I missed out on the Wii games this gen and would love to play them, the pricing for the Wii Mini is pretty good and I couldn't really care less about online and piracy so its not such a terrible deal.
However, Wii U has got some great games coming out for it this year so think I'll take the double hit and just buy a Wii U and all the Wii games I missed for it.
£85 to play the Wii games...or
£300 to play the Wii games and new Wii U g...
Karmic, I'm with you, no matter the case I don't think Playstation will ban used games but using this as a strategic manoeuvre against Microsoft by keeping quiet about it (for now) could very well play right into Sony's hands if M'soft do indeed decide to block used games.
I agree with you guys you can easily get by without purchasing a single mod, however, there are still those out there who will buy these and because of this new-found demand there is a potentially bad precedent put on our future.
The article makes a good point with putting an extra monetary value on something that's effectively already been purchased. Even worse consider supply and demand, you essentially have an infinite supply and limited demand on an item that doesn...
Last time I ever pre-order a game again!..until the next Aliens licensed game.
Was sceptical at first till I saw it wouldn't support the original 360 controllers...that does sounds like the kind of dick move MS would pull.
Worst pre-order ever. Play it and trade it straight away.
Minecraft 2 anyone?
With you there Banana. PC will undoubtedly look better...according to these screens, you can't even read the hud.
Is that even pretty? Too many case edges, bits and pieces here and there.
But yeah, concepts, why bother?
Agreed, didn't literally mean every single game. I'd assume they bring out the most popular games first, over time perhaps they will have thousands of games.
From a money-making perspective can you see why they wouldn't include backwards compatibility?
Conspiracy - Cut costs my arse, funny how all those old games you used to own are back in the store...to be bought again!
Fact - PS4 will not be backwards compatible, you'll simply have to download them, they're already introducing big titles online so we know it works already.
We're all fucked now...it makes me...frustrated...BANG BANG!
If this gen is anything to go by, the system with the worst specs wins!
Great read, been gaming since the Mega Drive (actually had a Good Boy system before that but who the hell knows what that is?) and only now I'm wearing thin on the recyclable concepts.
I'd agree we have hit a sort of conceptual ceiling where the vast majority of games will be formulaic and hand holding; thank god some developers are blessed with an imagination and crave something more than just dollars.
On the other hand, going back to Moore's Law...
One thing I hate about Sony is that they're going to do what they always do, force everyone to use their proprietary communications product which simply won't be as usable.
However, I do agree with some of the above that MS will likely allow Sony to use it a cost, they did pay $8.5 billion for it after all.
Why all the hate? It's not like Nvidia aren't enthusiasts. As it currently stands, I completely agree that most enthusiasts will have to tweak towards their needs but if it came to a point where Nvidia could nail this, it would save so much time for those of us that don't want to spend the 1st hour of a game worrying about performance. Not enough gaming time as it is these days.
Combining this with the Steam big picture would be brilliant.

Perhaps just another headline to drag in landings...more landings...more impressions (adverts)...more $$$
I'm with LordMe....I've loved both games so far, when they mentioned accessibility I didn't imagine difficulty is what they had in mind...I think (hope) they're talking about storyline, item mechanics like upgrading etc.
Like I said, loved both games so far...however, by the time I got to the end I had absolutely no idea what was happening...just enjoyed the ride.
Loving it!
Very erect.
Holding back the next major PC upgrade for this.
