There's a difference between creating publicity stunts and respecting religious beliefs. There are over 1 billion Muslims in the world and to release a product that could be misconstrued as offensive would not only hurt the PlayStation brand name but Sony as well. You obviously have never perused a torrent site and seen the thousands of people who have downloaded 360 games.
I have a feeling piracy will shorten the 360's life by 6-12 months. It was a catch 22, use hardware that's been around for a few years (DVD-9) thus reducing overhead costs; at the same time, know once the firmware was hacked every Tom, D!ck, and Harry would be able to play a game from a DVD-R that costs mere pennies.
I apologize, Oct 27th is the release date for North America. Sometimes I forget a lot of us live in different continents.

I'm not necessarily defending Epic but a possible explanation is they have a different focus than say Hideo did with MGS4. Epic probably knew the vast majority buy this game for the multiplayer aspect so this ending for the single player was an "11th hour" effort. *shrugs* Who knows, we'll see once the reviews pour in.
