Did not know that. Well, I tip my hat to them too for staying with it.
With all due respect, Conker and Rare Replay should be stricken from the record, as both were previous releases on other platforms.
Well that's your opinion and who knows you may be right, so I'll even upvote you.
All players deserve to play multiplatform titles and shouldn't have to buy another console because they can't.
Now, if Microsoft let EA continue with its third-party software (Madden, Need for Speed, etc) and took only original's from then on, then yeah, that wouldn't be that bad for them for a while.
In the long term, you know, based solely on my crap...
Prove it already. You guys have only hinted at this for a full decade. All these "not out of the questions," "love to's," and "ask Sega" has run its course.
A likely problem since Generation 7, sadly. Long gone patches and dead servers will probably become the number one murderer of past titles.
This is exactly why single player and releasing finished product is important. I hope I am wrong about this history erasing nightmare, but we will all know for sure in 5 to 10 more years if no solution is found.
Well, Kaz, I hope you enjoy your sidestep good sir. Oh, and "Riiiiidge Raccceeerrrr" still haunts my dreams.
After learning that Strictly Limited Games is a two-man operation, I can't help but have more respect for this company.
Instead of acquisitions, I'd rather them create original properties. They have the money, so go for it.
If they have the money, which they clearly do, why not make original IP than buy any studio?
I know the point is debating five studios, but making original properties would bolster community appeal by showing you care. So, yeah, "if you can dream it, it's possible."
I understand where you're coming from, and though I am quite sure neither of us are going to be swayed on our opinions, I'll expand the debate a bit. Sorry in advance for the essay I may write.
In terms of bad and good software, I personally think you're only scratching the surface. Because of the major shift to three dimensional there's going to be some duds in there somewhere, some learning experiences and others just to capitalize (there still is), but th...
I am guessing they picked Illumination (not my first candidate but okay), because Nintendo now have close ties with Universal?
Anyway, studio choice aside, I will definitely look forward to the first trailer, so color me intrigued. Let's see if they can give Mario some film justice.
Victory for a battle, not the war. Too early to claim victory over an opponent who has mastered spin and relies on short attention spans. We need to shape up and speak out on these problems or quietly lose.
I don't mind what you do Nintendo, just as long as you keep the games coming and stay after that third party support.
I am more than aware that the Wii was a success, but in terms of software overall we don't need a repeat of the goings-on there. Yes, there were some good games, but an overabundance of shovelware would not help momentum or favor.
haha. That would be astounding! Alone, I think I would have to buy it just so I can say I own it. I wouldn't dare use it with all the gizmos inside, because of the watts that would hit my palms with the new AC rumble.
"Wilson explained that Electronic Arts remains committed to the Star Wars franchise." - Thanks for warning me.
This is all I got from this entire article:
EA: I want to take over the world.
Disney: I want to take over the world!
EA: You wouldn't happen to like to screw people over would you?
Disney: Did we just become friends?!
EA: Totally!
This is cool, but is it wrong of me to want more? I'm talkin' 8 bit to 64 bit maker. Either way, I am definitely going to keep tabs on this.
Five Nights at Freddy's... wait, what? I do give you kudos for Eternal Darkness, as most forget it existed, but no (Forbidden) Siren or, at least, the first Dead Space? C'mon!
Give it time, 2pacalypsenow. I personally always thought Gen 5 and 6 complimented one another because they shared a lot of the same ideologies. In the most unpopular opinion, it was Generation's 7 and 8 that went off the rails.
Well, from one analog player to another, you aren't a grumpy old man, as a lot of what you said is justifiable.
I, myself, believe in a lot of the same viewpoints and have, much to everyone's annoyance here, brought Gen 5 up quite a few times, so I won't write an essay here.
Simplicity was key to why it worked so well and innovation/reinvention was why we held it in such high regard. If Gen 9 harkens back to Gen 5's qualities then we could be on to something...
I wholeheartedly agree. I've warned many players about this scenario for years myself. I truly hope a way is found to help the situation, because in an industry that constantly looks forward it's important to remember our past.
