20 years flew by, didn't it? But the Nintendo 64 has stood the test of time and gave us some instant classics.
I don't know about you guys but this was truly the last time a system made me say, "wow." Who didn't invite 3 three friends over to shoot in Goldeneye? How about that feeling when you got your first star in Mario 64 or exploring Hyrule field for the first time?
Happy birthday, N64, and thank you for every memory.
Not a bad list. In fact, it's really hard to make a top anything in Gen 5! But... challenge accepted for the N64.
My top 5:
1. Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. Super Mario 64
3. Conker's Bad Fur Day
4. Mario Kart 64
5. Goldeneye/Perfect Dark
What's your top 5?
"I don't look back and say 'I wish I'd gone with Unreal'." - said Denis Dyack never.
On September 30th, dinosaurs will fly.
Good read. I especially liked the last story by Mr. Miyamoto. I certainly did not know that.
Tenzuka: "I regret we weren’t able to do more with the monkeys." Trust me, Tenzuka, that one monkey stealing my hat was more than enough. But I'll always have the satisfaction of throwing him off the stage area after getting it back. Ah, memories.
That's quite the package, and though a lot of us saw a GOTY edition coming to the eventual PS4 release, I'll wait on a price drop around Black Friday.
Agreed. An overlooked gem if I ever saw one. I was lucky a friend had it on Playstation 2, so I could check it out. I finally bought it on the Xbox 360 a few years back to get rid of my shame for not owning it.
I'm on the fence about this game, because it wasn't bad.. not for everyone, for sure, but definitely not worth $20. I do hope you Xbox gamers enjoy either way.
It would be wonderful if Pachter would go away. He's just an arrogant twit spitting out shock statements to stir up the community.
That's exactly how much we would all make without a girlfriend or wife.
This is what nightmares are made of...
Well we don't call them masterpieces for nothing.
If Nintendo managed to balance the specs, nothing insane or anything, but a good boost for both developer and customer, and have a good innovation then they have a great shot of regaining some fanbase with the NX for Gen 9.
Not counting 3rd party support, of course, but if the specs were good there may be no reason not to port, which could help Nintendo's relationship with other parties who ran away over the Wii eras.
Then hypothetically with that new ground maybe Gen ...
I completely agree, beaks. I got a Deliverance feel from the trailer too, not Resident Evil.. more like Meet the Bakers.
As for the weapons, maybe Capcom will do a balance of hiding and shooting? Considering its first person I'm not so sure.
Interesting article with some cool tidbits. I kind of hope Levine goes back to the drawing board and brings The Lost to us now.
Resident Evil 7 looks like Capcom took PT and combined it with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, judging from the first person view and the Baker family. Not that it's a big problem, but I would rather 3rd person for Resident Evil. I'm definitely hopeful for this outing, but I remain skeptical given the recent entries in the series.
beaks, please do yourself a flavor and play Eternal Darkness soon. It's a fantastic game that is truly one of the great horror titles ever made. And NukaCola's interpretation is true, kinda is like a Kojima directed RE.
Oh no, you're spot on, nevin. The article is going for the Japanese release date of the 14th of September.
Not a bad bunch of games, but an all-time list with no Eternal Darkness refuses to be an all-time list.
It's considered a flop because it was a different time. Gaming was on the threshold of becoming mainstream, so sales were based on a pool, Gen's 6 and back, whereas now it's an ocean.
This is pretty sweet. Thank you, Michel Ancel, for keeping your dream alive. Now let's get this trilogy!
