They are less relevant than ever before. Going handheld is a form of escape from the competition.

If FTC was competent (or designed to) prevent monopolies, we wouldn’t have consolidation in industries and rampant monopolies. At this point MS should be held in contempt of the court for lying on the stand, but are they going to be? Nope.

Normally we get a PRO edition at this point, not a new generation. Especially in the case of Xbox, what have you played so far to justify another console purchase? Remember all the promises MS made at the beginning of this gen? Which pretty much just started? Come on.

Excited, but money is tight… /:

Wow imagine MS shitting in the face of Xbox players who bought their series consoles. Releasing a next gen this fast would be suicide.

Depends on what they mean by having pc in mind. It’s possible this was always a contingency plan. They probably could foresee a scenario like this playing out.

Probably because it was a contingency plan.

@Obscure
I’ll be enjoying this PS5 exclusive, you can wait for a Xbox port, if it ever does arrive. Hopefully they can put in the time to get a decent port to Xbox.

Ok that’s your opinion. I think they were an amazing purchase for Sony. Their current internal struggles aside, which by the way means according to their agreement allows Sony to take over management of Bungie. Not sure if people know this, but business wise, this is actually a win for Sony.

Considering their diminishing numbers, I wonder what is the end game?

All these services will soon block physical ownership so that you HAVE to subscribe if you want to game.

The question I have is: If what unites us here is console gaming, why are some here protecting a company that clearly does not have the best interests of console gaming in its business strategy?

@InUrFoxhole
By “beyond consoles” you mean they lost and are now doing what they can to scorch console market.

As always they lie straight through their teeth. The magnitude of the lies suggests they all have good dental policies.

After laying off half their developers?

What are you talking about? Are you living in alternate reality? If you are going to blame other studios on Bungie, then the success of Helldivers goes to Bungie too. Based on that, Bungie has been incredible then.

Meanwhile, MS cancelled projects, shut down studios, while ONLY serving up GAAS and nothing else. Yeah that was $85.00B well spent.

Possibly, this is because the companies were going after cheats because the same cheats were being used to pirate the games, whereas today, the companies use online verification to prevent piracy, thus eliminating the need to go after people who cheat only to gain an advantage in the game. As long as the cheater remains below the radar, and does not completely break the game, the companies look the other way as their wallets are not threatened by it. (that is my completely Uneducated opinion ...
