2012 for the next StarCraft expansion O.O well, that's a long way... and they have another one to do after that too.
Except when I say 90, that's without pointless spam. In fact, the only point you can really spam is at the very beginning of the match, since later on, there won't be any time for spam, especially when I play my main race Zerg, since it's extremely macro and micro intensive, I'll be hitting the 100s.
"rts can be done on a console you just have to eliminate hot keys"
That kinda defeats the whole purpose. Playing StarCraft 2 without ho...
"Well RUSE w/ PS Move and HALO WARS shows you can put a RTS on a console, so that's a go for StarCraft. It'll sell more on console too."
And those are really SLOOW compared to StarCraft 2. StarCraft 2 is the twitch shooter of RTSs. I have an APM of 90 (actions per minute, basically the amount of keys and movements I'm doing each minute), I don't see how I could replicate that on a console controller. Move would be even harder.
Really...
Oh and just to add to what I said (edit button is already gone), I play at 1920x1200, and average 60-65fps in both 1v1 and 2v2. The lowest it ever dips in 1v1 is around 45fps in 200/200 battles, and in only the most massive 2v2 fights (on creep, overlords filling screen, 200/200 armies on all teams), does it ever dip to 35fps.
So yes, a 1GB GTX 460 will fulfill all your needs. Just save up $100 more. With an older dual-core CPU, the fps will be averaging around 40fps, dippin...
Mmm it really depends on the resolution, but I'm running a GTX 460 right now, and I get 60fps average even in 2v2 games. CPU can be a factor too due to bottlenecks, but any recent quad core should be find (Intel i5s or somewhat older Q series, AMD Phenom IIs or Athlon II X3)
Pictures are an awful way to show how jaggy or sharp a game is, because it's still depending on the resolution. Of course when you're only playing at 720p, you're not gonna notice how blurry MLAA actually makes things at the higher resolutions, where MSAA will look godly in comparison. And MSAA isn't even near the best, there is still Q and SSAA. And downsampling... O.O
"MLAA doesnt make things look blurry if it does it just wasnt implemented correctly.&q...
"Plus, the Crysis engine was built to have graphics being the #1 focus."
All engines are kinda made for that focus. The gameplay is the game itself, not the engine. You could say that Crysis itself was built for graphics being the main focus though (even though I would disagree).
"All that matters is what is on the screen. Killzone 2/3 destroys Crysis in every area except:
* Resolution on PCs
* High rez textures on PCs ...
"Of course the difference between Half Life 2 and HL1 are great. HL1 was released in 1998 on PC and HL2 was released in 2004. That's like a 6 year difference. How can you compare that to UC2 when it came out 18 months after UC1?"
Because of huge GPU advancements on PC. The different between HL1 and HL2 are HUGE, basically like a leap to a new console gen. The different from Uncharted 1 to 2 is there, but it's not THAT big, they both still look like they woul...
This... is friggin awesome.
"Call of Duty's taking the form of an annual sports game and frankly I see nothing wrong with that, it's all about competitive multiplayer, it's what keeps the hundreds of thousands of players all around the globe coming back to challenge each other, I don't see any difference between this, Fifa, NBA & Madden when it comes to the principles of competitive play. People have no problem supporting those games even though they have minor changes each year, Call of Duty IS...
Did no one read the article? They decided to pull it because they didn't want to risk losing revenue from the New Vegas ads until the ad campaign was over.
Wow TOO PAWNED... IT'S A BENCHMARK TOOL. Seriously, it even says it right under the title. And I'm really surprised you've never heard of 3DMARK, it's an insanely popular benchmark.
People that can't read the first sentence under the headline *sigh*. What is the world coming to?
"When i popped this in my PS3 I was taken aback by the visuals... And how awful they looked."
I agree, even though I'm playing this on PC. The increased colors feel like it makes the graphics look even worse. I'm hoping the guys over at Fallout Nexus get some nice graphics mods released soon, Fallout 3 looked amazing with the proper mods.
"they emphasize that they used HDMI on both consoles at the bottom. it cud be the reason PS3 looks better and im glad. I use HDMI :D"
Honestly, who plays on an HDTV but doesn't use HDMI these days? I thought it was common knowledge by now.
"256 MB Video Memory with Shader 3.0 support, ATI Radeon HD 2600 / NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT"
"get tired of games with ATi x1900 and Nvidia 7900 as minimum specs."
A 7900 GS was far better than an 8600 GT. It even had 512MB VRAM.
If the PS3 demo was anything to go by, the PC version must look extremely good. It looked really good already for a console multiplat game, I'll probably be buying this on PC if it drops during the Steam Christmas sale. Hell, I'll buy it even if it doesn't.
I hated the demo for the 1st one, I thought the game was awful, and looked bad graphically... I played the demo for the The Force Unleashed 2, and the controls and gameplay felt insanely better. I might actually buy it now.
Oh, and the graphics... wow. I think this might be one of the better looking multiplatform titles, and it's a MASSIVE step up from the first one. I really can't see how it got a worse score.
Bethesda games are always: play 30 extremely short tutorial to learn the very basics and choose your class, skills, and introduce you to the story, then free-roam and do whatever you want to.
In Oblivion the beginning dungeon-like tutorial was about 30 minutes. In Fallout 3, the Vault tutoral took about 20. After both of those were finished, you arrived outside, and you could literally do whatever you wanted to do. In fact, it's hard not to be overwhelmed as to where to g...
"What games were 15-20 hours long? I'm looking at my collection and can't seem to think of any."
Half-life 2, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Doom 3, Starcraft 2, Crysis, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Resident Evil 4, Bioshock, MGS4 (yes, I'm counting cutscenes as gametime, since that's like not counting lulls of silence in movie length). That's just off the top of my head.
It's not even the blowing heads off thing though. Compare it to Fallout 1 and 2s very dark and realistic tone, and even Fallout 3 somewhat, and you'll see what he's saying. Yeah, there was still alot of humor in the first two, but it was also done in a much darker way. And some of the stuff happening in the original two were just... sick.
