“Those folks shouldn’t worry; any thematic point to be made about religion, the United States or the current state of the nation’s politics is quickly thrown aside to make way for all sorts of jokes and lighthearted hijinks“

LOL Aww poor polygon. This could have been great if only you had a sense of humor. You make it sound great to me.

Same. Everybody loves a good story and good characters. When the “why” outweighs the mechanics then I start losing interest most of the time. The games built on a foundation of storytelling feel preachy to me lol. Im zoning out during cutscenes and when I look up I’m dead and it’s the loading screen lol. I’m talking to the game out loud like “okay we get it, let’s go”.

It’s different for everyone, if that’s the kind of game he likes then that’s the kind he will direct. Fai...

“Cory Barlog: It’s both. So you get a bit of that and you also get the natural feeling of a conclusion to the game's story. And then, like I said, I have never in anything I’ve ever worked on put as many secrets in a game as now. They're literally everywhere.

I hope people are finding stuff like, a year from now, two years from now, because there’s so much there to find.”

👍

Good article, good questions.

I don’t play these games so I hope that’s just a mode and it doesn’t replace traditional multiplayer modes. It was obvious developers were going follow the money but I hope tacking on a battle royale mode and calling it a day doesn’t become the norm. It’s so lazy unless you are going full on survival like SCUM.

Those half-assed comments were the best that IGN could muster lol? At least pick some funny ones.

“an initiative of an intersectional nature”

I thought they were trying to create healthy communities lol. That’s not a good start.

I’m curious to know what film industry tools they used to populate the world. The article doesn’t go into very much detail. “It was hard” yeah I’m sure it was lol.

God of war purists? Like there is something wrong with being a fan of past games.. “But for everyone else”..... The Rest of Us.

That sucks but it makes sense. When contract work ends then it’s over lol. So these developers want to pay a union instead of a hiring agency and get the same (or worse) result, basically? What it sounds like, they need to make it easier to gain exposure. A process to cut out the agency/union middleman. The secretive nature behind game development probably makes these agencies even more of a necessity.

You can do these sorts of things without unions now though. Like you men...

There needs to be a constant conflict and reason for dues. Unions grow just like a businesses do and just like a business the administrators make an outrageous amount of money compared to the workers, teachers and such. Unions using your dues to do campaign contributions across the states regardless of your opinion. I think that’s why they want it so bad honestly.

They squandered the last crowd funding though. Hopefully they aren’t relying on that. I was also stoked for it.

2865d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Exactly. If you go above and beyond then that means more work for them lol. People are happy doing the bare minimum. What a thing to openly fight for lol. These people want to jump straight into a corrupted union, they think that’s how it’s supposed to work lol. Even the author of this article is enthusiastic about it. If that’s the political climate that game developers are going through then I feel sorry for them.

I don’t know why anyone would sign under EA at this point. What were Hennig and Respawn thinking? They are restructuring to try and make their current model work. The thing is it won’t work, ever. They get 200 people on twitter yelling at them about representation and they think that represents their consumer base. Nobody wants to buy their cheap advocacy tactics. For someone to buy their MTs the game has to be good first lol.

I agree with the top 3. I haven’t played any of the others.

To see what union workplaces are like, google: bailout.

That’s too bad it wasn’t recorded. This article seems heavily biased but I am happy to see a gdc article. Game journalism. To be honest the guy is saying reasonable things and it’s being called combative while they are crowd cheering the weak jabs made by others lol. Sounds like a toxic atmosphere in the description but it probably played out nothing like that. He’s indie, free range developers don’t need unions, it’s pointless. Aside from a few things for the assembly line grunt at EA, like ...

In 2017 gwent had a 16 million net profit lol. The effort put into Witcher 3 and their consumer based business model deserve the sales.
