Gameplay trumps graphics for me anytime... but Nintendo doesn't have anything going for them outside of their 1st party games and their clunky/gimmicky hardware interface. Nintendo's focus clearly changed with the Wii and that's why I jumped ship after NGC...
Top of the line graphics shouldn't be the focus as it drives development costs sky high with little room for good game design... graphically I really don't think it makes sense to design games at this...
Once the demo is ready to be shown to potential publishers perhaps #SOCOMUNITE should organize a twitter bomb for H-Hour to add even a little bit more evidence of a market?
Even if you are unable to back it now I ask all of you to please try and spread awareness of this project. The success of this project would not only bring us H-Hour but send a message to publishers that there is still a market for a hardcore tactical shooter out there.
It may even lead to the SOCOM series itself being revived and sent back in the right direction but that is getting a little ahead of ourselves...
The kickstarter goal amount is to make a demo to show to potential publishers/investors to finance it.
I think it may be unlikely that Sony would back it directly but it is not out of the realm of possibility.
I have always felt that people's willingness to put up with getting nickle and dimed by MS last gen would come back to haunt them. They have sent the message with their wallets that they don't care (be that message true or not).
There are also the many people out there who don't even know about PRISM... I seriously worry what the uninformed people will do... will they blindly buy the system without knowing the DRM or anything else?
They are honest and hardworking but one of the flaws of their nation is that most of them are too timid and are willing to put up with way too much bullshit on the job... illegal bullshit... unpaid time...stuff like that.
Publishers will love that... Developers...not so much
Exactly and if I were to develop a game I would do my best to make sure it has either infinite replay value or forms an emotional attachment with buyers. Make good games... limit used sales.
Not that selling used sales are all that bad because as you said they often go toward funding buying new games while the buyers get to play games they were on the fence about and may be more likely to buy a future game in that series day 1 if they liked it.
@WinterSoldier
"Basically games ARE indeed a service and are based on a license system, buying the physical disc doesn't mean you can rip the art assets from it and use them in your game or some shit, the 60$ is a basic owner/operator license."
So by your logic I could buy a bag of Cheetos and then have rights to use its logo royalty free because it's a product and not a service?
It's time for SOCOM fans to put up or shut up!
In all seriousness though even if you can't afford to donate you should at least help spread the word and get this thing out there.
lmao the implications of Xbox One being just as dangerous as one of those giant pronated skeletons... I agree.
I'm like that too sometimes I revisit a game and have a completely changed opinion on it.
If you were online within the first few days of PS+ release you may have seen me doing the rounds with Hyper-mode Fire Spray... Gotta punish those who waited so long to try it out!
PS Vita is getting it and its on a shared server. I know its a handheld but that at least shows they might be willing.
The advantage varies with the hardware interface you are using and the type of game. PC wins here because it's more flexible but consoles have a completely different appeal.
-Consoles have standardized specs meaning devs don't have to worry about toning games down to accommodate people with low RAM or low CPU/GPU performance. Remember as a developer you want to reach the largest possible consumer base... those with high end PCs are unfortunately going to suffer a bit ...
You have forced me to copy/paste myself.
"With modifier controls (holding a button... for example L2) and hitting another button you can greatly increase the possible inputs from a controller. With only 1 modifier key the DS4 could go from 10 to 18 possible inputs (not including D pad and touch) if you include the D pad that goes from 14 to 26 inputs... that's just with ONE modifier in the control scheme.
It's still very doable with the MMO contr...
With Vita crossbuy/crossplay!
lmao I am now picturing Kratos as a 3-4 Jack LB just dominating tackles on the edge...
Yeah...of course...
I find the wording of your comment...confusing...
Huh? I was under the impression the CoD and BF were more arcadey shooters... not realistic... or are you referring to graphics/theme?
Edit: After review... theme right?
Another Edit:
Black? 2006...
SOCOM 2002...
There are probably even more that predate SOCOM... I have no idea where they get Black was first...
