I think the repetition in Watch_dogs comes from some of the less interesting actions you can and are encouraged to make for most of the game. I had fun hacking phones to get some money at the ATM for the first few times, after a while, it simply got repetitive and more of a chore than anything. Same goes with acquiring songs. The hacking mini-game also gets old pretty fast, while not being very rewarding nor fun.
I understand that games will always have some kind of repetiti...
Sales-wise, the Vita is dead in the water; its sales are comparable to the Wii-U. Yes, the Vita has sold more units so far, but it has also been available for a longer period of time.
As for the games, I think it will be successful in Japan, and become a niche platform every where else. If you look at the latest games for the Vita in the West, there's plenty of JRPGs and other games imported from Japan. On the other hand, Western support is low, and the games the Vita has...
Considering smartphones/tablets have received updated versions of the original GTA3 trilogy, couldn't Rockstar actually release these on the Vita rather than two games that are already available on the Vita through PSP emulation?
Not to mention that as good as they were on the PSP at the time of their release, neither LCS nor VCS were anywhere as good as the original games they were spun off from.
But, hopefully, at some point down the line, Rockstar wil...
Well, it's all a matter of personal opinion; but none of the games he mentioned were bad, they all are valid choices in their own way. All but one. Saints Row The Third was a much better game than SR IV.
What I meant is that most opinion pieces before the announcement were anti-kinect, while suddenly, there's a shift, and most opinion pieces are pro-kinect. Yes, people can have different opinions, but it does bring up a question, where were all the kinect defenders before? And why aren't those who wished kinect to be optional before not writing about how great this new bundle is.
My point is that it would appear that those happy with a situation stay silent, and all w...
Opinion pieces about the Xbox One before the announcement of a Kinect-less bundle : Xbox One is doomed, Microsoft needs to drop kinect and drop the price for it to ever compete with the PS4. Kinect games are crap.
Opinion pieces after the announcement : Removing Kinect will mean we will see less Kinect integration; truly a wasted opportunity. Dropping Kinect is a huge mistake and is effectively dooming the Xbox One.
For the resolution, I don't care all that much, as long as it meets a minimum standard that is. I expect my games to respect the aspect ratio of the device they are likely to be used on (16:9 on consoles, and native on handhelds). I hate having black bars on the top/bottom or on the sides, and am less likely to purchase a game from a developer who can't be bothered to respect the aspect ratio. Besides that, as long as the resolution isn't so low to affect the gameplay, I'm fin...
Yeah, right. Maybe there will come a day when game developers recognize the differences between the SS and the Wehrmacht, and actually put some nuances regarding the events of World War II and those who fought it, on both sides. But I doubt Wolfenstein will be the game where this will happen.
My guess is that by "Nazi ideology", they mean the usual stuff; as in they will be arrogant, sadistic and have a dark sense of humor. I'm interested in the game, but they ...
It doesn't look as good as some other shooters that's for sure. But it will run at 60fps, something most of the better looking games don't achieve. And since 60fps is basically a staple of the franchise, I would much rather have good graphics and 60fps in a Call of Duty game than great graphics at an unstable fps or worse, a locked 30fps; it simply wouldn't fit the Call of Duty gameplay.
No, it doesn't have to be. It can be, but you'll notice that the more successful Free to Play games are NOT Pay to win.
DOTA2 and League of Legends are both free to play, yet neither really offer any in game advantage to those willing to pay. Team Fortress 2 is the same.
Some games are close to crossing that line; World of Tanks, WarThunder, PlanetSide 2 and WarFrame do offer various advantages to putting money in the game, but it isn't game brea...
Publishers are still needed for major projects; when it comes to multi-million dollar projects, Star Citizen is the exception, not the rule. And, believe it or not, publishers can also be helpful, as an example, thanks to the fact that they all are under the EA umbrella, multiple studios have access to the same engine (Frostbite for most non EA Sports games) without any royalty fees like they would have had they decided to go for the UE4.
But more importantly, publishers aren...
No online is one thing, but no multiplayer at all for the Vita version is quite the deal breaker (well, for those who only have a Vita, as the game is cross buy with the PS3 and the PS4 as well, which is great).
But, you see, Vita can do remote play very well already. My guess is that if Sony really intends to continue to push for remote play in the future, it won't be with a Vita follow-up. It would make more sense for them to create an add-on for the Xperia Z line that would add physical controls to it (similar to the Logitech powershell or the moga ace). The Xperia line is getting updated every year, and will continue to do so, it already packs more horse power than the Vita and it has a highe...
On the bright side, Hearthstone is confirmed for Android tablets by the end of the year, the FTL team has stated that they hoped to release FTL on Android at some point and Hitman Go is supposed to see a release on Android "soon after" the iOS release, I would expect it in the coming weeks.
On the not so bright side for Android users though, is that the Infinity Blade series and The World Ends With You Solo Remix are still iOS exclusives.
In my opin...
Yes. Unlike music or movies, where most products will share a similar price with the competition, in the video games business, some games can be priced as low as 1$, and can go up to 60$, excluding F2P games as well as limited editions.
Angry birds is a great game for 1$, but should never be recommended as a 60$ game. There are many games that are easy to recommend at a lower price point, but not at 40 or 60$. As another example, Heavenly Sword was a great game, although ver...
The lack of multiplayer really kills this game on the Vita; as it gets old extremely fast. I can understand the omission of online multiplayer on all 3 platforms, as at the very least the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game have splitscreen, but for the Vita to have no multuplayer at all is a real shame. I know the game is cross-buy, which is great, but for Vita-only owners, this game isn't worth it at all.
That being said, I still enjoy the core gameplay and bought it for ...
Well, as he said, THQ did go bankrupt, so that probably did not help at all. As for future games, the next-gen transition comes with higher development costs, at least for the first next-gen game, as well as lower sales, at least on the new systems. Hopefully they work something out.
Here's the thing, when franchises don't evolve and don't keep up with the rest of the gaming world, people and critics will say that the game is stuck in the past, more of the same and that it might be time for the franchise to be put on indefinite hiatus until it can find a way to become relevant once more. Until then, the series will suffer from declining sales, and if nothing is done, the publisher will lose money and write off the entire franchise as being dead.
Oh I see, thank you for the information. I always presumed that since I never had any issues playing with the games that weren't showing up on the Vita store front that they were all compatible, I now stand corrected.
"Shock" uh? While a new Crash or Syphon Filter game would be very nice, I wouldn't be "shocked" about it. Excited yes, but definitely not shocked. I don't know if whoever wrote that headline knows the meaning of the word "shock", but unless Sony announces that they bought Nintendo or that they are discontinuing the PS4 despite its huge success, chances are I won't be shocked by Sony's E3 presentation.
