You really think that a $60.00 game sale results in $60.00 profit? The cash obtained through a retail purchase is divided amoung several parties such the reseller, publisher, developer, manufacturer, console maker and anyone else who has a share of the royalties (featured musicians, actors or athletes). For each unit sold a developer makes approximately $15.00 and a publisher around $20.00. This is why we see developers shutting down after posting sales of hundreds of millons of dollars.
I'm a longtime XBOX owner who purchased a PS3 about a year ago in anticipation of Heavy Rain. I've played a few PS3 games in the interim such as Uncharted 1(B+), Uncharted 2(A+), Killzone 2(B), and Resistance(B-). I think that the PS3 is a great system but I still do most of my gaming on the 360 due to the Live integration, Achievements System and exclusive titles . I played the Heavy Rain demo and I feel that the game play is severely lacking in its ability to draw me into the story. I'm a ...
So this "article" is about a guy who has decided to no longer use his game system? ALERT THE MEDIA!
This is completely off topic but the Microsoft/Gates Foundation has a charitable financial endowment of almost 40 Billion dollars (40 BILLION!). This private foundation has donated more money to various charities than almost any other philanthropic organization in history. Microsoft may well be a cut-throat business entity (what other type is there?)but their positive impact on the poor and needy can not be dismissed by bias or ignorance.

"this is a HUGE "LOL" moment for me..."
It is? Wow, that is kind of pathetic. I actually feel bad for you.
"But it is so sweet to taste all of the tears of MS fanboys and MS fanboy sites"
Do you even read your own posts? You sound like a complete tool....seriously.
Sincerely,
A PS3 owner
"I am part of this development team..."
No, you're not.
I want you to ask yourself what motivated you to post that immature response to an unrelated article. Seriously, what was going through your head at that exact moment? I just don't get the whole fanboy attitude.
But I purchased a PS3 specifically to play Heavy Rain and the Uncharted series. I loved Indigo Prophecy just because it was so different and compelling.
I really don't believe XBOX Live will increase their pricing structure. But if they do I will still be willing to pay the extra fee. I'm not sure why people complain so much about the service fee for Live considering similar contracts from cellphone and cable providers are averaging $100.00/month. I'm fortunate that I have a very good job which I earned through a lot of hard work and a master's degree. It takes me about an hour to make $100.00 so I don't consider my Live subscription to be a ...
So according to your theory Microsoft is willing to sell game consoles to groups of individuals who steal and distribute software in the hopes that they will purchase downloadable content? THAT is what you believe is Microsoft's solution to piracy? OK...and I didn't say that risk management is an invalid form of analysis.
Ramiuk1, enlighten me as to how software piracy contributes to a console's success in the marketplace. Please, I'm waiting for your succinct and precise market analysis of the situation. I'm sure that you must be using an advanced form of risk management to ascertain your stated conclusion. Your theory couldn't possibly be based on the faulty notion that software piracy increases the installed userbase thus increasing profits for the manufacture...could it? I'm sure you're aware that a consol...
I'm astonished that people actually think that "The Boondock Saints" is a good movie. Granted, my friends and I have watched this derivative piece of garbage more than once but only to mock its blatant awfulness. The film is so bad that a scathing documentary was made which depicts the director as an incompetent, insufferable, out-of-control egomaniac. Check out "Overnight" and then try to watching this film again. This is the "Plan 9 From Outer Space" of over-th...
"I enjoy being an asshole"
Well, you are good at it.
I'm what you would call a "mature" gamer. I've always had a interest in video games and I've been fortunate to have owned a majority of the major consoles including the 2600, Colecovision, 3DO, Sega Genesis, Nintendo (NES & Super) Playstation, and XBOX. I currently own a PS3 and a XBOX 360. Although I have enjoyed playing on the current generation of consoles I do feel that the experience is becoming a bit stale. There are so few games that engage me the same way as some of the ...
This happens in a lot of retail stores. I used to work in a Record Town (now F.Y.E). The bathroom was stocked with so much merchandise that the room became a dark and twisted maze which started at the door and ended at the toilet.
Yeah, you tell 'em there kid. Perhaps you should actually take a moment and attempt to understand the article before you go on a embarrassing rant.
I've rented over 250 DVD movies from Netflix and have found that less than 10 have been cracked/scratched and unplayable. I've rented less than 20 Blu-ray movies and found that 4 were damaged and unplayable. I would have to say at this point that there seems to be some validity to the claim. I've read other articles that support this theory. I don't believe that Blu-ray discs are more suseptible to damage than DVDs but they don't seem to "travel" well.
Oh, I see...It's OK to steal as long you do it in the name of justice and "stick it to the man". The store is has discounted some of these titles by more than 60% but incredibly you don't recognize that as a "fair" deal. You use your twisted logic and misdirected hatred of the government to mask the fact that you're essentially a petty thief. What type of government protest is staged when someone rips off a retailer? I can appreciate your views on the economy and current t...
Don't the authors of these articles ever get tired of complaining? While I think that this new Arcade feature could use a bit a tweaking I still appreciate that MS is always evolving XBOX Live. If you don't like it then don't use it...its no loss. Why do these individuals always feel that they are entitled to FREE merchandise. When was the last time any of these people invested time, effort, and capital into something and then gave it away for free? The level of arrogance in the gaming commun...
