I think most people know fine well that it'll be more powerful than PS3 and 360.
The point being raised here is whether or not it will be enough to entice people away from PS3 and 360 or whether most people will just wait for the PS4 and next Xbox. They will both most likely be 3-5 times more powerful again.
I would probably bet on the latter.
Actually COD is using the Quake 3 engine! From 1999, very tweaked mind you.
I do imagine that most next gen games will be built using upgraded current engines.
We have some really good engines out there just now that are being held back by current hardware, just look at that Cryengine 3 vid posted by NoUseMerc, thats a current gen engine but no current console could run that.
They just need to hire a proper game designer, they've sucked since Romero left.
Currently id are great engine creators, just not so good at creating games to go with the tech.
Can't wait to see what some 3rd party studios can churn out using that engine.
Since I upgraded my PC for BF3 (which I don't even play!) I've hardly touched my PS3.
Even a few months back I would've said keep the PS3 going longer, but now you realise it's time for a new console generation.
Personally I think they'll focus on the Vita for a year at least before revealing the PS4.
You never know though, we'll find out in June.
I haven't played this game online for a few weeks now, was just sick of the amount of hacking going on (PC version).
It ruins the game for everyone.
I just don't get why people do it, it doesn't show you have skill it's rather obvious when ppl cheat, it just annoys the crap out of proper players.
Like Morgan was alluding too, I already have a mobile broadband contract which I barely use in my netbook. I might as well get the 3G Vita and get some use out of my mobile broadband.
However, if I didn't already have that I most likely wouldn't be getting the 3G one.
Lol, I can just about hear Jack Tretton's palm hitting his face.
Get a grip Bundi, if your gonna be like that why not throw in Ferrari's too.
The ipod and Vita are comparable because they are both portable gadgets which both play music and games.
One is a dedicated music player with a sideline in games, the other a dedicated games machine that happens to be able to play music.
The Vita is a far better music player than the Ipod is a games machine though.
Best comment I've read in a while, I had never even thought about it that way! +bubs
I'm going for the 3G one purely because I already have a mobile broadband contract sim that I use in my netbook. So rather than have to use my netbook I'll just use the Vita for browsing the web on the go.
ps. I have a BlackBerry and they are guff for browsing the web.
Game prices I don't mind, but yes, the memory cards are a rip off.
You can pick up an equivalent sized SD card for less than half the price.
I prefer BC2 and I actually still prefer BC1 to that!
I honestly don't like so much about BF3 there is a lot of things that annoy me about it.
The destruction isn't as good as BC2.
And don't get me started on the stupid flash lights and laser beams. Seriously, get a friend to stand even 6ft away from you with a torch in daylight and you'll see that it has absolutely no effect on your vision and with a laser sight they would need to be aiming d...
"But could Drake be gay? Yes, he most certainly could, and having high profile characters like him be queer would help in creating an environment where games can be fun for everyone."
So what is being said here? That gay people can't find games fun unless there is a gay protagonist?
I have absolutely no issue with any game's main character being gay but I don't think there should be any issue made out of it either, why do we consider them all st...
Yeah people do tend forget that for all the things Sony did wrong with the PS3 early on, it was one hell of a trojan horse for Blu-Ray.
There's no way to say this without sounding like a fanboy, but I totally agree with you and you can bet your house that if it had been the 360 version that was borked it wouldn't have got a sniff at GOTY.
I dunno man, there are more titles announced for 2012 that interest me personally than there was in 2011.
That is just my opinion but games like Borderlands 2, Aliens Colonial Marines, Street Fighter x Tekken, Planetside 2, the Vita and it's games, StarHawk and many more have me more hyped than anything from 2011.
I just felt that most games in 2011 were overhyped and most of the sequels didn't live up to their predecessors.
The gaming media, and the media in general always like to put a negative spin on things.
Happy stories don't sell in the media, in any form of media.
What? There's a TV in that picture? ;-)
