If you look at digital foundry's various videos on this game, they've basically said that the Resolution mode is a locked 30fps with 0 drops, which would indicate some sort of overhead and extra performance available.
All they're doing is eeking the maximum available frames that are attainable at full 4K with VRR making up the odd drop in frame here and there.

sounds like he got unclucky or has spilled something on it, either way everything has a failure rate even the most reliable equipment, thuings can go wrong, had a ps5 controller for a few months now and it's fine, also had an xbox elite v2 which is fine after nearly a year.
A lot of people not actually reading the article, he's not defending Bethesda or the industry as a whole. It refers to reports during Skyrim and Fallout 76 when admittedly Crunch culture wasn't as scrutinized and was more expected years ago. There's nothing mentioning crunch is happening with Starfield. I'm not talking about Assassin's creed as a whole. I actually think that Origins is the best example of them handling side content. Odessey and Valhalla not so much, simply because the level gating is too egregious. So yeah it's optional, but when they're forcing the player to do it due to level gating then it becomes not optional content.

Mate, you're talking nonsense. Just because it's optional doesn't mean it doesn't effect the game. Those extra things that they are putting in could be put towards meaningful content. On one hand you've got the Witcher 3, which is arguably the standard to which Open world game/quest design is measured. The reason that telltale fell into financial ruin was the amount of money they had to pay out for the big License fees. Batman, Borderlands, walking dead, they had to pay through the nose to get rights to use them. Supermassive don't have that problem, although I would love them to do a Nightmare on Elm street, Friday the 13th or Halloween game, the rights to those properties would likely be too much to warrant the cost.
