it's actually dependent tbh, the 3080 has better performance in most titles due to the awful mermory bus on these new 40 series cards, but DLSS 3 makes upf for that, but you won't use it in competitive games due to high latency as it's essentially motion interpolation.
Short answer is depends what you're playing and if you can get a 3080 cheaper than a 4070.
Think you're over stating what you need for a GPU, you've literally named the 2 worst bang for your buck GPU's. A 3060ti out performs these current consoles. I got a 4070ti for about £720 and it's probably maybe a 2.5 - 3x multiplier.
Yeah PC gaming is expensive but only talk about things you have any idea about pal.
Simple answer, if you have the money, PC, if you don't, console.
Weirdly enough DF did a take on FSR and it works better on Nvidia GPU's if you can believe that..
But yeah FSR is universal hence why it's not as good visually, luckily there's a modder who is putting in DLSS around the launch day so there's that at least.
Yeah they exist, and some people forget. Literally every reviewer has said the game is incredibly unforgiving with the amount of enemies it throws at you and the save frequency so it's not just me. Like I said I fully intend to go back to it, but with so much on the horizon that I would rather play I'm just kinda rushing through it and not giving it the attention it deserves.
I really enjoyed the first act but the second one in the shadow realm and the massive difficulty spike kinda made me put it on ice until I get done with other things like Starfield and Spiderman 2.
The auto save interval is an absolute killer, got to a point where it was me Vs 50 enemies(not exaggerating), and lost 3 hours of progress. Yeah I was pretty much done at that point. Amazing game, but too many random difficulty spikes that feel cheap.
This game needs putting on Ice man, complete mess of a narrative, content that you paid money for locked away. Games gone to shit man.
I'm waiting for reviews on Mirage personally, been burned too many times by Ubisoft.

And this is exactly why I built a new PC, these consoles are severely out of date already and it's only going to get worse. 1080p on a current gen console is just abysmal. FF16 was 720p during combat, I loved that game but 1080p - 1440p at 30fps is just not good enough. Games at the start of the gen had much better image quality than the ones now.
Devs are prioritising the wrong things yet again. 30 FPS sub 4k is standard now going forward.
Funny thing is.. there's nothing new in Baldurs gate 3 that hasn't been in gaming before. It's a very traditional RPG, with a hell of a lot of time, effort, and love put into it with a view to give the player the best experience they can.
