Most people also don't buy a console for just a single game anyway. Tomb Raider, coupled with the rest of Xbox's lineup, is what will drive sales, and MS clearly knows this. They are looking for sales this year to increase the installed base so it will be more attractive to developers next year.

While you're probably right that Tomb Raider will eventually come out on other platforms, the fact of the matter is that it's an Xbox exclusive until it's OFFICIALLY announced for other platforms.

There's a LOT of people around here who are throwing around the "timed exclusive" argument simply to try to minimize the impact of such a high profile game coming to the platform that they dislike.

@uptown

You're no more wrong than d_g is for stating the FACT that Forza 5 is the only next gen 1080p 60fps racer on consoles, yet he is getting slammed with disagrees

Apparently 19 people (and climbing) must know of another next gen 1080p 60fps racer on consoles.

@FallenAngel1984

2008:
-360 10.8 million worldwide
-PS3 10.7 million worldwide

2011:
-360 14.9 million worldwide
-PS3 14.1 million worldwide

Those numbers come directly from MS & Sony's OFFICIAL financial reports. It is a FACT.

There were actually TWO full years in which 360 outsold PS3 worldwide. The myth that PS3 outsold 360 every year is believed by the legions of Sony supporters around here, but it's completely false.

@Rainslacker - The software sales don't support your opinion that many 360's were sold as replacements. If someone bought a new 360 to replace a defective one, they wouldn't have to replace their games. However, since 360 sold more software, we can reasonably dete...

"The only area 360 won was having the highest software sales."

Uh, selling more games is pretty damn important when it comes to "gaming", despite how unimportant you are trying to make it seem. 360 selling more games than PS3 shows that there are a lot of people who bought PS3's for reasons other than gaming (a fact that's pretty well known). The fact that people chose to game more on the 360 than on PS3 proves that MS did "have it". <...

You're right. There's no question as to who's "winning" right now.

If this were a baseball game, we'd be in the third inning with a LOT of game left to be played to determine the winner.

Sure. Who would want to game on a 65" HD screen with surround sound & a precision controller when you can have your games on a 5 inch mobile screen?

3956d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Right, because a single $50 price cut over 18 months makes it worthless.

I wonder what your reaction would be if the price had dropped $200 in its first 10 months like a certain console last generation.

3957d ago 5 agree2 disagreeView comment

What deals and price cuts are you referring to? This article is about April. There was no price cut in April. There were no new "deals" either.

Xbox One was $349 with Halo:MCC free throughout April.
PS4 was $399 with Last Of Us free throughout April.

Sounds like damage control.

The only points that could be considered more opinion than fact are #'s 1 and 6, and there's enough evidence to support my opinions there. There's no disputing the others. Like many people, you just don't WANT to believe that the two generations are VERY similar.

What facts? The only fact is that we're only 20-25% through this generation. Remember how foolish Xbox fans looked early last generation when they said PS3 would never catch 360?

3972d ago 0 agree27 disagreeView comment

Predicting victory after 18 months is awfully premature. Sony is certainly in the best position, but 75% of this generation still has to play out. That's like celebrating a win in the third inning of a baseball game.

"I'm pretty sure a good chunk of those that like those games already have the console."

People said that all last generation, yet 360 sales always surged whenever a new Halo or Gears was released.

"It's available now" surprises at E3 generally don't work too well (cough, cough...Sega Saturn...cough, cough).

Though, a software announcement would be a lot less risky.

My E3 longshot is ending the conference with the announcement of Minecraft 2.

Or you could just stop guessing what a game cost to make. Your comment seems to be trying to downplay AW's sales without any real numbers to back you up. That's why you're getting disagrees. 2+2=4 is a fact. Your guesses aren't.

I mean, nobody in their right mind would believe Alan Wake cost as much to make as GTA V - that's just a ridiculous comparison to make.

I work part time at Gamestop, and there are just as many special sales that push PS4 as there are sales that push Xbox One.

Trying to make it seem like there's some sort of "rare" promotion to try to sell Xbox One's is just biased and flat out wrong.

Ori is a Microsoft exclusive (Xbox & Windows) just like MLB is a Sony exclusive, even if it's on multiple platforms.

I enjoyed high profile PS4 "exclusives" like MLB & Little Big Planet 3 despite not owning a PS4. Lolz right back.

Fortunately, Xbox gamers aren't like you. They don't say "Hmm, this game is download only - not a retail game. Therefore, it's not even worth looking at". Nor do they say "This game is only $40 so I'll completely ignore it". There are many so-called "budget" games that are better than overhyped AAA releases.

Dismissing numerous games because they're not on disc, or because they're only $40, screams of bias. A quality ...
