And on the PS IGN podcast they said Sony confirmed that God of War 3 was a 2009 release. What's the point of speculating, just wait for them to announce a release date. If anything, we all know release dates can change in a heartbeat. So why worry about it when the game is easily 10+ months off.

Wonder if the rumors about new Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 trailers coming to the PSN on Thursday are gonna turn out to be true? I got a feeling they're not coming after reading this. Doesn't make much sense to release a new trailer now then show the game off in a few weeks.
Wouldn't doubt it after the year they had this year. They need to make as much money as possible and putting their best title out on one platform isn't going to achieve that.
They need to go forward with just one SKU. They need to stick with the 80GB PS3 they have now at $399 and cut the price to $299. More SKUs just confuse people and give others a chance to twist things.
So $299 80GB PS3 + advertising. Hell maybe go the route of the Mac commercials, you could easily make two of those types of commercials based on paying for online and RROD alone. They gotta take the gloves off at some point or they're not gonna make up any ground.
Sony is definitely in trouble if this continues but they can look to one thing as a positive. Look at what each console sold both years..

They also need to seriously consider a Superbowl commercial for this game. It will be costly but everyone watches the Superbowl for the commercials, it's not like people stop watching once a commercial comes on, and that's millions upon millions of eyes seeing your product.

Sorry but this game is vaporware. There has been talk of seeing more of this game very soon for what seems like an entire year now. I'll believe it when I finally see it, which I highly doubt.

And this is why you didnt see a price cut this holiday season. It's about your quarter and yearly numbers. They want their 08 numbers to show less of a loss, therefore they can't drop the price until as early as March 09 because that's when their new financial year begins.
As Panthers said, SOCOMers play SOCOM and nothing else. However many play it today, that's how many will be playing it 6 months from now because to them nothing is better even if it clearly is. If PSN released a most played list like XBL does, SOCOM would easily be top three until the end of time even if the games are horrible because those people dont move on to other franchises, they either quit or keep suffering through it. That would be a headline to some blog post if they do it, no joke. That or it will mock how big the ad budget is for the game. $10M ad budget for L4D is alright, if Sony did a $10M ad budget for Killzone 2 they'd be called idiots for some odd reason.
Why does the word free come up when SOCOM DLC is discussed? It's going to easily rival the content of the game we bought, you think they're gonna give that much away for free or even cheap for that matter? It sucks that we bought what was essentially a beta but they're not going to take pitty on us. This will easily be over the $9.99 mark, my guess would be a price tag of $14.99, which really sucks.
