Bad Company 2, TF2, Reach are all infinitely better MP shooter experiences. hell even gears of war and uncharted are better multiplayer shooters than COD.

The end of Halo 3 definitely left the possibilities for another game wide open.
the multiplayer is a crappier version of left for dead versus though.
i'd say, strictly talking about combat style, alan wake is this generation's RE4. not nearly as good as RE4, but if RE5 had the combat feel of alan wake it would have felt a lot more current gen.

i think you can pretty much bank on it being 25 hours of GoTY awesomeness.
@below: too many games are 10 hours WITH cut scenes. and most of the gameplay is just the developer holding your hand while escorting you to the next movie or scripted event.
i'm sure the dialog in this game won't be nearly as winded and redundant as MGS
