Not at all, first time ever RPG elements and side missions, and a map editor. It could certainly feel like been there done that the same way any sequel could, but no way in hell was it top 5 disappointments.
One my favourite franchises, just love everything about it.
Don't think I'll be watching this time. All conferences and awards I've watched live in the last couple of years have been underwhelming.

Fans have been asking for changes to the campaign for a long time, every time the critics criticized it for being linear and "same old", and it's nothing invasive to the traditional style.
They didn't mess with the iconic shotgun, it's a completely separate mode where people don't start with the shotty.
lmao if the author has the right to his opinion then we also have the right to criticize that opinion. How in hell is Gears 5 on this list and above Anthem wtf!! For the first time they added side missions, RPG elements, lengthy campaign, map editor, and new modes that don't just focus on the shotgun. It literally did what what people were hoping since before Gears 4 and is still the best competitive TPS on the market.
Judging by its ratings and reviews it's actually really good...you know the measure that's literally designed to tell you if a game is good or not.

Really really happy with this release, it's amazing how well Halo games hold up. I can play any Halo game from CE to H5 and enjoy the f*** out of it.

I have both PS4 and XB1. I buy all PS exclusives for the great single player exclusives, and I buy everything else on Xbox. Why pay for PSN when I can get 3 years of Xbox live plus Gamepass for $180, and have games like Outer worlds, Gears 5, Forza horizon 4, on launch day, and play all multiplayer games on it including Halo 5/ Halo MCC and Gears which are some of the greatest multiplayer franchises providing me unlimited fun.

Why wouldn't they? Gears Forza Halo, but most importantly Gamepass which lets you play dozens of multiplats and exclusives.
Just because you love your PS4 doesn't mean you can't love an xbox too. They're both products to buy and if you have money to afford and time to play both then your fanboy loyalty shouldn't stop you. You should be a fan of games not consoles.

Why is it always assumed that the coinciding release of two big titles will completely cannibalize the sales of one title?? There aren't millions of players who absolutely must only pick one of these games to buy. They're on different platforms, they're not battling for any common demographic like COD/Battlefield, and people that want both will buy both.
The sad thing it looks incredible at first glance. They really had something going with that style of gameplay, like no one on the team saw it and thought "why don't we make this like Mass effect"???
