However, MS put themselves in their own hole by disclosing the number of hours that BC has been used since launch. They've truly shown that it's not that heavily used as a feature with only 508 million hours since launch to now.
PS3 launch price was $500 and offered WAY more in comparison to the competition.

Give up on what? They use it as a marketing tactic to say that both BC and the UHD Bluray player are reasons to buy an Xbox one over the competition.
As great as the feature are as option so for gamers, the data shows that they are truly not utilized. MS has stated how they had 1 BIllion hours played ONLY in January and barely reach 500 million hours of BC reached since launch of the feature. It literally is a small small percentage of time. There's no denying that.

I've been saying this from the start.
BC is an excellent feature, but 508 million hours over 20 months vs. Sony hitting 450+ million every week with new games, shows why their differentiating in what they're saying.
PlayStation fans buy the PS4 for new games and experiences. Xbox fans seem to want the opposite by the logic here on this site and my Phil.
There was literally a who article done on this a while back that Sony games come out sooner than the competition.
MS' were more likely to get delayed and cancelled in that article. But we're less than a month more in releasing games.
All I know is that they release some top quality games throughout the year alongside third party games. And that's good for me 👌🏼

Who said it was about justification? It's an excellent feature all consoles should have.
However, touting it as a feature that puts it above the competition should be reevaluated...especially considering when their own fanbase hardly uses it.
