It's going to be very hard for me to trust Gearbox in the future after this whole fiasco, and also because of how they neglected to announce before they released the season pass that a different team than the one that worked on the main game would be making the DLC's for Borderlands 2. Very sneaky.

Maybe this is just me, but I almost never preorder a game over a month before it's released. I know it's just $5, but I don't like to allocate that $5 to anything any earlier than I have to. And here we have a game that we aren't even sure whether or not it will be released this year or the next. In my opinion preordering now is just ridiculous, especially where we've only seen 30 seconds or less of in-game footage.
All that said, I do like what I've heard and...

500 hours is possible. I played through the first two games at least 8 times each, the hours definitely add up.

I don't envy Bioware at all right now. I have no idea what they could do to lure in all the people like myself that are still bitter about the deplorable ending to Mass Effect 3. After the trivialization of the Reapers in ME3 and the contemptible story spun to us in the Leviathan DLC that further eviscerated the wondrous veil of mystery that previously cloaked the Reapers, I really don't think anything Bioware does can restore my interest in the lore. They have already killed almost e...

I agree completely. Any score less than 8 out of 10 for Dead Space 3 makes me wonder if the reviewer(s) played the game in it's entirety or if they've even played Dead Space 1 and 2. This game is fantastic. You can argue that the first game is still the eeriest (I still do call Dead Space 1 my favorite of the three) but this is definitely not the Gears inspired ordeal that the marketing led us to believe it would be. This is a true Dead Space game through and through. I even prefer th...

Disappointing. These are not "cheats." The article simply mentions the N7 armor awarded for having a Mass Effect 3 save and the planet cracker plasma cutter you receive for having played Dead Space 2.
The first game had cheats for a few nodes and credits, that was a real treat.

It's quite nice to for once see the first comment on a Dead Space 3 article read something pleasantly optimistic rather than a complaint about the inclusion of completely optional and quite trivial microtransactions and a couple levels featuring a few gun toting Unitologists, a grievance over the DLC suits and weapons the likes of which were available to download in the previous 2 games, or something that says the game will be garbage with the primary reason for which cited only as "...

I think this person is in for a rude awakening if they wind up playing the full game.
After viewing (singleplayer) gameplay from the first 5 or so chapters of the game, the only new changes seem to be that the majority of the game is set on a planet rather than in space, and there is one chapter where you fight a few gun toting enemies, otherwise it seems nearly identical to Dead Space 2 in terms of how much action and scares there are. Although Dead Space 2 wasn't quite as creep...

I've heard from multiple people with early copies of the game that they are already on chapter 7 and they haven't faced a human enemy with a gun since chapter 1. The human enemies with firearms seem to have been shown in all the promotional material for the game only to garner the attention of a larger audience, it would appear as though they are few and far between, the rest of the enemies are the good old Necromorphs armed only with their limbs which are ripe for severing with your ...

The DLC's are not crucial at all. This is not like when Bioware/EA cut Javik out of ME3 and sold him and all his in-game content as day 1 DLC.
The 11 items that will be available for Dead Space 3 on day 1 are all trivial. Honestly, they are nothing to get even slightly upset about, because you will NOT need them, but if anyone should WANT them, they are available. In addition to the microtransactions (which aren't worth freaking out about, they are weapon parts and materials t...

I believe Gameinformer gave Resident Evil 6 an 8.75... should we REALLY be putting any stake in their opinions?

I've seen a bit of gameplay from someone's livestream, it still definitely looked like a Dead Space game. Bear in mind it was singleplayer gameplay. Another person that got the game early said that they were on chapter 7 and they hadn't fought human enemies with weapons since chapter 1, so if that's true it's quite encouraging.
I think a lot of people were too quick to judge this game as more action and less scares, a la Resident Evil based on footage released cont...

Why then didn't anyone complain when both of the previous Dead Space games had downloadable weapon and armor packs released at launch for purchase? These were singleplayer items, usage of them would decrease the overall difficulty and challenge of the games, and they have not been held in contempt as the, in my opinion, inferior weapon crafting equipment is currently.

These microtransactions REALLY aren't a big deal. If someone wants to pay a little more of their own money to grant themselves early access to something EVERYONE will be able to acquire by playing the game normally, so what? I'm pretty sure someone from Visceral has already confirmed that a person will not be able to just purchase tons of weapon parts and resources during the opening chapters of the game with which they can instantly forge a superweapon to tear through the campaign. E...

I've seen nothing but positive expectations for this game, rightfully so in my opinion. I just wonder how many people are now going to take the "This game will have DLC? I'll wait many months and buy it at a heavily discounted price before I play it" stance.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that a season pass has not been announced for this game. If Dead Space 3 is going to have DLC, I am much more hopeful that it will be enjoyable if there is no season pass. I've come to understand season pass as "four mediocre packs of content thrown together without much care to meet a deadline."
Of course, that definition can also be applied to many full games released these days, but still...

I don't think such a shooter would be very fun to play if it were kept realistic. How would it go? Fire your relatively inaccurate weapon once, get stuck in 30 second reload animation, repeat?

I'd really prefer they work on adding theater mode to Spartan Ops and Campaign prior to this but... oh well.

It hasn't officially been released yet. I got a code from the Dead Space Facebook page, that's how I've already played it. I think they've been giving them out on Twitter as well.
The demo will be available for everyone on the xbox marketplace this coming Tuesday, the 22nd.
