@Virtual_Reality: What are you saying? I think you're commenting on the PS4's nonmandatory internet connection. This is something I love about the PS4 and another reason I believe it to be the superior machine, but this is irrelevant, the discussion at hand is used game fees.
Are people really not paying attention? I'm not defending Microsoft at all, there are TONS of things I hate about the Xbox One, and the PS4 is definitely the superior machine, but the fact still remains: Sony and Microsoft are taking the same stance on used games. They are BOTH leaving it up to the publishers to decide whether or not a game will have a used game fee. We look like ignorant sheep when we praise one console's stance on used games over the other when the truth is that bot...
Show some games that blow people away or what little shreds of hope remain for the new console will wither and die by week's end.
I'm still almost expecting a new Halo game (other than this) to be released with the launch of the new console. Definitely not Halo 5, 343 needs more time working on that. I want a more satisfying campaign experience from 5 than I received in Halo 4. I also don't think a Halo 2 HD remake type thing is very likely at this time, although I would love to be wrong there. I just wouldn't be surprised at all if some new Halo game is announced very soon for release alongside the Xbox One...
I'm still disappointed the plot of CoD: Ghosts isn't like this: You play as a soldier and in the opening battle your character is killed in action. You then continue the rest of the game as a ghost, haunting the enemy soldiers with crazy antics such as making books fall from bookshelves, messing with electrical appliances and causing inanimate objects to move seemingly on their own. Guess the world just isn't ready for a groundbreaking third person haunter.
Yeah, much as I've always hated them, I'd rather have online passes continue functioning as they have than see Xbox One's used game situation come to fruition. At least then I'd still be able to loan games to friends and borrow others from them and we'd be able to play through the singleplayer campaigns without paying some fee to anyone.
It just seems as though the online pass has evolved into a far more sinister monster. These are dark times.
Bioware said the exact thing regarding fan reactions to Mass Effect 3's ending. "We assure you, we are listening." Whether or not they listened, they still did little to improve things so as not to "compromise" their "artistic integrity." I have little hope Microsoft will make significant changes to their new console, but I would certainly love to be surprised here.
The article doesn't mention this, but back in 2009 Spielberg tried to buy the rights to creating a Halo movie.
And now this... I just don't know what to believe anymore, this whole reveal was such a mess. http://www.polygon.com/2013...
Unfortunately nothing in those articles brings total clarity to the situation. Each one basically states that used games won't be blocked, I don't take this to mean it rules out the possibility of Sony choosing to charge some sort extra fee somewhere along the path between coming into possession of a used game and playing it on the console.
From the last article: "Speaking at a roundtable session with the press attended by Ars Technica, Shuhei Yoshida stated tha...
Exactly. Sony has yet to make an official statement on how the PS4 will treat pre-owned games, it's unwise to assume their own plans are or are not similar to Microsoft's.
Yes, hopefully they have no plans to implement something like what Microsoft is doing with One, (and hopefully there's still time for Microsoft to change their minds on this) but for now we simply do not have confirmation one way or the other, so far it's all nothing more than speculation.
So far yes, it would appear to be good news, although it's completely possible the price of xbox live memberships could rise.
Bungie no longer wanted to make Halo games, Microsoft did not take Halo away from them and give it to someone else.
Call of Duty: Ghosts... the game should have gone like this:
You play as a soldier and in the opening battle your character is killed in action. You then continue the rest of the game as a ghost, haunting the enemy soldiers with crazy antics such as messing with electrical appliances and causing inanimate objects to move seemingly on their own.
By the way, the disagree you've received is not from me.
Yeah, it's far too early to be expecting Halo 5. We know it's coming, but I don't want to see it for a couple years. They need to take their time and hopefully deliver a superior campaign experience than what we got in 4.
I would love an HD remake of Halo 2. I remember when they were releasing the anniversary edition of Combat Evolved they basically said a remake of 2 was never going to happen, but it's possible they have by now or will eventually change their m...
Religion does not inherently deserve respect. If I were to say I believed in a giant octopus that lives inside the sun and grants wishes every Thursday, my claim does not automatically deserve your respect and you have every right to criticize it.
Perhaps you've heard of a time during which religion ruled human life and the power of churches was unchecked. Anyone that dared defy and believe anything different was dealt physical harm and often death. People were burnt at the stake...
"So you started off well and on-topic and then later basically went into a typical atheist rant?"
Wasn't a rant, per se, I stated at the beginning that I was simply copying and pasting my comments from 2 other recent articles on videos games and religion.
"I don't think atheists would care too much if they were the object of criticism in a game, but neither do I think developers would amend their content if they were offended, which is...
I'm just going to copy and paste my comments from 2 other very similar recent articles:
Freedom of speech/expression must include the right to offend. If anyone chooses to believe in something for which there exists absolutely no evidence to support it, that's one thing, but they can't keep playing the "offended" card each time someone challenges them.
Religion within games as a plot device is fine, portrayal of religions in games such as Halo (Cove...
If people could put aside the fact that it's not AS scary as the first game, which the second game is also guilty of being, they'd be able to realize Dead Space 3 is still a damn good game and they'd have a lot of fun with it.
Everyone got (justifiably) upset when it seemed as though the game would be cover-based shooting against human enemies with firearms, an idea which I was also heavily opposed to, and that it would feature microtransactions. Then the game was release...
Here's hoping they can pull this off well and avoid pulling a Bioware. An actual quote from a developer at Bioware prior to the release of Mass Effect 3: "This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. At this point we’re taking into
account so many decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game
endings, where you can say how many endi...
