Metal Gear Solid's plot is one of the most ridiculously cliched, hamfisted, and cheesy of any video game or novel I've read. The game is fun, but don't mistake the game's fun for the wildly nonsensical story-telling.
MGS fans can defend the game as vehemently as they want. The story for MGS is like something out of a Jean Claude Van Damme film.
I agree, Panda. A couple of days ago I went to an Apple store at my local mall. The store was crowded and since my last visit had been re-organized so that there were no shelves for applications, just tables that show-cased hardware.
And I looked at nearly every product there, with the specs written on a card in a plastic holder. The prices are indeed much higher than other computers. Maybe more than twice as expensive than comparable hardware.
But, as ...
On the internet people speak in absolutes.
Because Doom 3 wasn't given 50 GOTY awards Da_Shredder thinks he can say it wasn't a decent game, and hopes no one really thinks about his post.
Looks like someone has a stick up their cornholio.
The whole point is that rendering good visuals at 60 frames per second is taxing on the CPU. If Id wanted, they could add more particle effects and destructibility to the game and run it at 30 frames per second. Or they could make the game more linear like Halo 3 and make it look really fucking good.
@raztad, enemies disappear because of RAM limitations. You've played God of War 3, haven't you? Enemies disappear in console games, sometimes immediately as a design ...
Computer-wise, they are both limited. I can't run multiple applications on my PS3. I can't surf the browser and then minimize it in order to play a game. And I certainly can't surf the PS3 browser while playing.
Even my netbook lets me do that. I guess it's because a game is developed to use all the PS3s power so the system can't let me use the power to surf the net while I play, but if I have the game paused, then it shouldn't be a problem.
Neither PS3 nor 360 do everything. I really hate that slogan. I loved the other Playstation slogans like the PS2 slogan, "Live in your world, play in ours."
And the PS1 bootup audio

That's the bomb. And yeah, it's very nostalgic.
Even the PS2 boot up was decent.

It is very good-looking. I don't know why anyone would say otherwise. I've seen the demo in HD maybe 4 times. There are a few hiccups though.
I want to make something clear in case this thread gets hot.
I've seen a lot of people getting into arguments about why RAGE looks great and some people say that it looks better than Killzone 3 because it runs at 60 fps.
I do not feel that way. I don't think that a game running at 60...
Believe it or not, I think the real gamers don't really spend any time on this site. I'm starting to reevaluate myself as well on this matter.
Why did he get disagrees for saying something so true?
Microsoft needs first party studios. They need more reliable hardware. How can anyone think otherwise.
They can't keep dropping millions on timed exclusivity. And even if they're not spending a dime on timed exclusivity, the fact that a competing console is getting all of the games later on and has its own catalog of high quality exclusives is enough to suggest that MS must have more studios. ...
they came out within weeks of each other.
Interesting. I don't know how to feel about this. Mark Rein is the head of a very large company so obviously he doesn't have one on one conversations with customers and he has the right to think it's pointless but he was just being a dick at that press conference. At the same time, if Microstudios wish to find greater success they need to expand their horizons. If they're going to listen to the wishes of a single customer, then what's the difference between that custom...
Yup. They're actually pretty fucking smart. They go around acting like the trolling bitches they are, and they taunt people until those people attack them or kick them out of places. Then they file lawsuits against people for infringing on their first amendment rights. And they make good money on that shit.
I try not to be a violent person or to agree to violence, but if somebody killed the entire Phelps family, I would not shed a single tear. I would celebrate.
Dear lord, man. It's the same damn game file. The CD disc is what's cheap. A detachable hard-drive can hold more games and other files. I guess the cover art for the CD case is what makes you think you actually own the game. That's very poor reasoning.
Downloadable games are happening as we speak. People can download full games off of XBL, PSN, and STEAM.
You're just expecting for discs to remain a standard for many years, and I guess that's true. But discs may be released by some other physical medium, like SSD cards or USBs.
Your logic is so flawed.
you can't hold a download in your hands?
As if holding a CD in your hands means you own a game?
How about you remove your detachable hard drive and hold it in your hands. There you go, now you're holding a downloadable game in your hands.
Edit: It's not a little different, man. It's exactly the same. Except that hard-drive is more sturdy than a disc. Secondly, if the game file in...
Yes, wissam they are multiplatform games, but people who play games on the 360 aren't crying the way PS3 fanboys claim. They're not sitting around saying, "Oh damn, I have no good games to play on 360 because none of the good games that just came out are exclusive to the 360."
I have a friend who only has a 360, and he's playing a lot of games right now. A lot of these fanboys seem to think that gamers only play whatever games are just coming out. But...
K thanks.
Most developers work this way.
