Another way to avoid feeling like second best is to try not to actually be second best but whatever. 'Your honor I only arranged to have my opponent's leg broken because I didn't want my fans to go home disappointed that they had been cheering on the second best performer'.
Not good. Not good at all. Leaving aside all console war nonsense I think we all have to admit this is pretty messed up. Especially the fact that (as far as I know) nobody has even issued a real explanation for this (and I'm not just saying that out of frustration, I'm in the UK and don't even know when the hell we're supposed to get it)

Well like I said it's an extreme example simply used to highlight the business practice people are objecting to. Whether you still think the downgraded game looks nice or not, it's still that exact same shady anti-consumer business tactic.
Speaking personally, even though 1080p has been the most important part of the jump in tech for me as I find the crispness really helps with immersion, I'd still probably buy this if it was a game I was desperately looking forward ...
Let's use an extreme as an example, now remember this is an extreme example in order to make the thought process of the critics more obvious.
Think of any upcoming game you're looking forward to. Let's say The Witcher 3 (if you're not looking forward to The Witcher 3 just replace it with a game you are looking forward to...and seek mental help).
Let's say within weeks of release Sony notice a large resurgence of interest in the PS1 among hipster...

I'm not saying I dispute the review itself. The game does look a little dry and not exactly bursting with excitement but the score seems a little low considering they state how it looks beautiful, the cars feel great to drive. The tracks are intricate and well designed. I mean a racing game that does racing very well shouldn't be knocked down that much just because it doesn't have any extra pizzazz.
It's just pure fun. It's the most purely fun focused game I've played in a long time. It's not the type of game you put on and are immediately blown away by the graphics or scope or even the basics of the game itself but it's absolutely the type of game you are up playing when you should have been in bed hours ago and are still telling yourself, 'okay I'll just do this one next thing and then I'll definitely go to bed.....okay maybe just this next thing too'...
No, Batman's of Arkham. I think the Shadow's of New York City if I remember correctly, at least according to the old radio serials he was.
Probably wouldn't hurt them at all if it was some new franchise but I think even most casual gamers are sick to death of Assassin's creed now and were only considering this game to see how the series embraces the possibilities of the new technology. Seeing that they're not even able to take advantage of the new hardware there's just no reason to buy yet another game in this over saturated series.
It is a great game. Probably my only complaint is the save system only allowing one save file and not even being able to turn off auto save. I want to show off the nemesis system to my friend with enough fun powers unlocked without screwing everything up for myself by dying repeatedly and making everyone more powerful.
I've done similarly long sessions for the past two days. It's just too damn addictive and I'm kinda ruining it for myself because I'm levelling up too much without doing any missions but I can't help it.
