The main thing that irks me about the large crowds being put in at the expense of everything else is that they don't even look good. Don't get me wrong, from a high vantage point it looks cool to see the crowd on the streets below but in every video released so far the moment our Assassin actually starts walking the streets among these crowds you can instantly see how they're all just blindly walking into walls or each other, clipping through things or at best performing unrealist...
A good, deep story is probably the most important thing to me as a gamer but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a game that doesn't have a good deep story, that's just small minded. Hell, if I demanded every game I played had a great and deep storyline I probably wouldn't be a gamer.

Personal attacks? At most you could say I'm attacking the writer and even then it's only through the quality of their writing.
I'm sure it livens up later on and adds some more gameplay styles. With some ground based gameplay and the ability to drop bombs etc it could be fun once you get past the douchiness of the characters. I get that the grinding was put in to make the travel seem fast, fluid and fun but without ground based running gameplay, when it's all just shooting from grinding rails it ironically starts to make the game seem slower. Like an on rails shooting gallery.
The most depressing thing about this is how many people are falling for this hacky contrived 'ooh look how dark and edgy we are being' BS. This game is a silly juvenile attempt to seem dark and scary and should be laughed off as another 'Unearthed' or 'Duck dynasty'. It's another cheesy cheapo game to be laughed at and nothing more.

I honestly don't know whether or not this game is any good as I haven't bought it yet (I probably will pick it up for Halloween night if I don't end up going out) but with reviews of games that rely a lot on atmosphere and immersion I think you have to take into account the environment the gamer played in.
Look at any behind the scenes footage of the offices of most professional reviewers, it may have slightly calmer lighting and be a little more relaxed than a call ...

The violence is one thing but that may be the single douchiest thing I've ever seen. What did they forego writers altogether and simply decide to use a douchey 13yr old emo kid's diary as a guide? Who really thought that would seem dark and edgy?
It seems as though just about all the comments in Drive club reviews are people telling us to accept the fact that the game is getting mediocre reviews and move on.

I would rate it quite high for myself since the things that are important to me, such as atmosphere and immersion are incredible but I certainly couldn't give it a perfect score or even recommend it without a few major warnings. I love the idea of the AI controlled Alien used to avoid the same old boring predictable (run back to that closet you passed in the last room and hide until the scary man decides you disappeared) horror game clichés but I think the AI itself needed a lot more...

I loved Borderlands 2 but I just killed it for myself. I think the seemingly never ending stream of dubious quality DLC I slogged through since I'd bought the season pass just overloaded me and now, while I'm sure this will be a well written, fun game I just can't muster an ounce of enthusiasm for it.

If the reviews continue like this I have to admit this is yet another Shadow of Mordor, a game I had assumed was going to be mediocre at best and was completely proven wrong. This generation is shaping up to be a weird one, it's almost getting to the point where I can tell how a game is gonna turn out by just going with the complete opposite of my initial impressions.
I'm actually glad people are recognising what nonsense this score is and not using it to score cheap fanboy points.
