"As it is, they take advantage of the lazy or those unwilling to shop around for good deals. "
Then stop being lazy and search for good deals. I do it with anything I buy. To be fair, those people really aren't Sony's, Microsoft's or Nintendo's problem. In fact, those people earn them extra money - why would they change it?
You seem to remember things incorrectly..

"In late 2007, Sony began releasing select PlayStation 3 titles as direct downloads. It was the first current-generation console to do so. "
As a side note - Digital versions of the game won't replace retail copies for a long time. We don't have enough bandwidth for it to be fe...
Totally didn't see that coming... Unless you look at my comment history on TechSpy.
Your average Joe probably won't go Linux, but the professional user will. To call Linux a joke for end users is incredibly far fetched, and not even remotely true.
But then again, you love anything that has Microsoft stamped on it, so I'm not really going to bother arguing with you about this beyond this comment.
"Out of touch"? Do you even know what a culture is, and that there's more than just the American one?
@Nutsack
4% fail rate with YLOD is a lot lower than the 40-50% fail rate of 360, so they're hardly "just as bad".
"But just like with memory cards, hard drives too have their drawbacks. Mandatory installs, seemingly hundreds of software updates, lack of portability—there’s plenty of reasons why hard drives are a gigantic pain in the ass"
None of that has any relation to Hard Drives at all. The author seems to have forgotten the days in which game breaking glitches actually permanently ruined the game experience, such as was the case for Prince of Persia. Lack of portability? Mo...
To be fair though, it was a massive artistic challenge to create a female turian. They've thrown the idea around since the first Mass Effect, as evidenced in videos released over the past few years, but weren't able to work out how to convincingly portray a female turian.
I think they did well though, I like the design.
The report seems fake, but if the Ps4 is not significantly more powerful than the WiiU or the Ps3, I'm not buying it.
Wasn't there an article the other day about the EA guy proclaiming the next gen consoles are phenomenal? Doesn't match up with this report.
SoldierOne
New IPs are equivalent to taking risks, and EA has been producing more of them than most other publishers.
Where's a Mirror's Edge sequel? If you build a product and it loses money, it's only logical from a business point of view that you're not going to do the same thing again. It's called risk assessment - a new product has a high likelihood to fail, but may offer a big return. A sequel to a product that failed has a much high...
Sure, Geoff wasn't really nice about it, but AngryJoe should really have done his research. AJ portrayed himself as a real amateur, with questions that have readily available answers.
The Ps3 version has a large install size though, so I'll get the Ps3 version instead.
CG? I'm not aware of Naughty Dog releasing any CG cutscenes or trailers.. ever..
"Did i call the PS3 a Piece of shit or something? I mean, i dissed on every platform yet you come bull rushing me like we have some personal vendetta."
No where did I imply any of that. You may want to check your reading comprehension skills. I merely stated your "humorous" post didn't make any sense due to factual information, and after your second reply corrected your spelling such that you could learn to do it right (I have lived in multiple countri...
A PC depends on a hard drive. Do you blame the motherboard for the hard drive crash? Do you blame the Xbox for your broken controller? Do you blame the car for a flat tire?
Regardless of dependency, if a third party piece of hardware fails it's hardly the console's fault. I could buy a shitty hard drive that's guaranteed to last no longer then a week, put it in my Playstation and wait for it to crash. Would you still blame the console?
Poking fun ...
These games cater to a completely different audience than CoD. It's a different market - it's like saying that the new ferrari is going to sell horribly because a new Jeep is coming the same month.
This crash had nothing to do with the Ps3 though... Hard Drives are considered disposable, like batteries, and have an explicit life span attached to them. For Hard Drives, it's not a matter of if they crash, it's a matter of when they crash.
And, if you read the article, you'll see he replaced the hard drive with a new one which then crashed.
"Whether or not this means bringing back the beloved Mako remains to be seen"
For as far as I'm aware, most people hated the Mako and the exploration that came with it. Each planet looked and felt the same, and the missions were incredibly repetitive. I preferred Mass Effect 3's system.
Hardware on the other hand is a different story - 300 compared to 350, it's a significantly higher price in the U.K.
The article attempted to claim that we're on a higher wage in the U.K., but that isn't really true - which is the main point I was making :)
I agree that they may earn more, but it's a tricky market at the moment due to limited bandwidth. The question is, how many people are willing to buy digital copies of games, and how many are able to?
Given that the market is significantly smaller than that of retail copies, the higher prices may be out of necessity, in an attempt to regain the money they lost in making it digitally available.
All that is speculation of course, there might be entirely dif...
