I'm in the R3 beta at the moment. Obviously as it's a beta it's hard to comment on the graphics as we don't know how they'll change between now and the final release.
As they are right now I would hope that they will be greatly improved. The textures and effects are ok (at best), but it's the character animations that I'm not liking.. the way players move isn't fluid. In my opinion that's what makes it look quite old school.

As someone who took part in the Alpha testing I'd just like to say that you can't use any of the Alpha footage as a comparison. The graphics varied a lot from person to person depending on their PC spec. You could change the graphics quality within the range of high to low, but even on high the graphics were very toned down.

I've never ordered from Origin and I haven't read the T&Cs, but what's stopping someone from Pre-ordering the game to get the early Beta access, then cancelling their pre-order once the Beta is finished? (Obviously to buy the game cheaper elsewhere)

UK here and I'm in :D As stated in their email the codes are region locked to the USA, so I just redeemed using my US account and I'm accessing it on my normal UK account.. playing it right now.

His reasons for BFBC2 being a bad game seem to come down to the fact that he's not very good at it. I have played BF and COD games extensively, both have their perks and drawbacks.. however, BF games are the ones that hold my attention. They require more skill, intelligence and teamwork and the matches can be extremely intense and very very fun. I've never had an issue with the guns or any of the other 'problems' he lists.

Well done Captain Obvious, you've completely missed the point. Companies usually buy up every domain variable which contains the name of their product, so when a person goes to one they get automatically directed to the main site. If they had been on the ball, someone visiting modernwarfare3.com would've been redirected to callofduty.com. So it was a pretty big fail on their behalf.
Type in battlefield3.com and see what happens.

I disagree. When Battlefield manages to get enough players in a match then it's always intense and fast paced.. depending on how you play. Where it falters is starting matches with massively unbalanced teams or not filling up squads properly. Then matches drag on forever as there are either not enough people on a large map, or you're the only person on your team and have to be cautious.
If a match is going slowly then my team find ways to up the tempo, like baiting...
