It is as simple as this These new consoles don't have the install base that PS2 alone had. These companies are used to having a large install base to sell to. They only sell to 20% maybe 40%. Even going multiplatform the install base is 12 million machines that is tiny compared to what the base was for the xbox and ps2 about 140 million. Everybody is assuming that people are rich or have that much money to spare. Sure the will sell 1 million maybe even two, Europe does love Sony. The PS3 will be a real good gaming system. Nothing against the platform it was always the lies that sony told. Soon there will be break neck competition and hopefully price reductions. if you read the article you see that they are constrained by the memory of the PS3. If they could get a computer from IBM with eight cells in it would be faster. Not hating but the ps3 is a gaming/entertainment machine not a supercomputer. It will play beautiful games and beautiful blu ray movies it will not solve the worlds problems.
It the argument that people want to run home brew on consoles or do they want to hack the system so they can play free PS3 games. I see a huge problem with the later that is straight up stealing. Running home brew is what you make it but playing a copied title is wrong.
I think that somewhere inside of us is a kid that likes to prove he is better at something than his friends. And we all have some child like attributes when it comes to this hobby called video games. Why else would 30+ year old men be doing the same thing as 15 year olds. It is just a way of proving how good you are to your friends and to yourself.
I still play crackdown after beating it for the achievements. They make the games more interesting. I mean as long as I don't have to kill 10,000 people online to get one. They can take those kind and shove them up their hard drive. But the ones playing solo or co- op are great. Even the squad based ones. These things keep a game alive long after it's time has passed. I know people still pick up king kong for a quick boost to their achievements score. Why else would anyone still play it. IMO ...

Arguably one of the most anticipated games of the year. Revolutionary character interaction. Being able to chose between being good and being Jack Bauer good. Kill and torture to get what you want. This game is soo hot and it isn't on this list. And as for 2 just read the review Forza2 it will rock your world, if you play it it has persistent real world damage effects, you can lose a bumper on the track and it will stay there the entire race. Also the AI improves every time you race it learns...
