QTE are fine, as long as failing them doesn't result in instant death. That's just overkill, and it becomes a frustrating exercise in trial and error.
"While there has certainly not been an open-world game where melee combat was superlative GTA IV does little to improve the problem"
I guess they never played Bully.
GTA4 should've just stolen Bully's system. After all, they're both made by the same company :P
Looks amazing.
But what's sad is that we can't all come together and enjoy a great multiplatform titles. We had to divide by console lines AGAIN. Why can't we as gamers just enjoy the GAME regardless of what console we play it on?
Someone said they're playing it on 360, and got 5 disagrees. Someone said they're playing it on PS3, and got 4 agrees. WHY? What does it matter what console we play it on as long as it's fun?
More platforms = more ga...
AoC's launch is by no means perfect, but if you think it's BAD, then you haven't been playing MMOs a very long time.
People forget, WoW had bugs at launch, but even more significantly, you couldn't even *log in* to encounter those bugs because of the huge server overload.
Actually, DT is considered by many to be underpowered and gimped due to non-working/stupid/broken feats. But that's beside the point.
For the record, Funcom has already made a post about fixing Necromancers and Demonologists ASAP:

(If you can't read that, feel free to PM me and I'll send you the list. Just don't want to spam N4G with it.)
I'm a level 41 Dark Templar and the game has yet to feel like a chore to me. And I typically despise MMO's. I played an hour of a WoW trial and gave up. I played the LOTRO Beta for a couple of days. Last MMO I played seriously was City of Heroes, and even that was half-heartidly.
This is easily the most fun I've had with an MMO since Ultima Online came out over 10 years ago.
You are 100% right.
It is, however, the first MMO I've enjoyed in years. All of the launch problem aside, the combat is just FUN - not fun for an MMO, but fun for ANY game.
A player assassin can try to sneak attack me and will miss if *I* am fast enough to move out of the way. Just because he's targeted me doesn't guarantee him a hit.
That alone puts the combat lightyears above any other MMO out there.
AoC won't kill WoW. The only...
The Hell?
Destructoid must've been reading a different interview than I did. The part they quoted said:
"I think the way you work with a Buddy in FC2 and the way it is done in GTA are completely different. In any case, it's pretty clear if you look back to Leipzig where our Buddy System was first detailed, well, there was basically no information about GTA IV at that time - we definitely came up with our buddies independently. That said, there is no doubt t...
I read this article earlier today, bu didn't think to submit it.
The author actually makes some pretty good points, though most of them have already been discussed to death in the gaming community.
Doesn't make the points any less true, though.
I agree that install space or time shouldn't affect a review score, unless it's something absurd like 15 gigs or an hour install.
However, cutscene length is a valid thing to adjust a game's score for. A review is an opinion, and if the person writing the opinion doesn't like long cutscenes, or at least, long and (in their opinion) boring cutscenes, they have every right to adjust the score for the story (and thus the game) appropriately.
Some people just don't ...
This has nothing to do with 360 vs. PS3 - the question is just beyond ridiculous.
It doesn't matter what the DLC is, or what system we're talking about - no DLC for any game ever made is worth selling an *entire console* for, because that would mean that single bit of DLC was better than *every other exclusive game ever released for the console*.
It's a ridiculous headline written to generate hits, nothing more.
You are a bad, bad person for submitting this as "news".
An irate fanboy ranting on a game's message board is not news.
You act people can't own both a PS2 or a Wii. I imagine many, many Wii owners also own a PS2. I know I fall into that category. The world isn't divided strictly into "Sony fans, Microsoft fans, and Nintendo fans", no matter what the internet makes us think.
They offer very different experiences from one another. And, like it or not, the Wii DOES have games worth playing.
Yup, I don't think anyone saw this coming.
Love the Wii, or hate the Wii, no one can argue Nintendo is back with a vengeance.
Now, they just need some fresh new franchises to try out on their shiny new playerbase.
They should stop packaging games with instruction manuals, and just start putting in videos of this guy singing how to play the game. Then I could stop spending money on video games altogether!
This video is hardly reflective of the game's combat system.
It's easily the best combat system I've seen in an MMO. It's worthy of a SP game. I'd compare it positively to the Witcher's combat.
Holy crap! I hadn't even thought about a Mario Paint Wii. Its lack of existance is officially a CRIME. Especially now that we have the internet to share everything we could create!
Damn you Nintendo.
Cross platform support would be great.
Finally the console war can be decided with action instead of words!
The Haze stuff this year feels like Lair all over again. Generally average or below average reviews, one or two incredibly negative reviews, and gamers themselves sounding just as randomly between "it sucks and the designers kick babies" and "it's actually quite good."
Do you guys really think the media is still bias against the PS3?
Every other article in 2008 has been about how 2008 is the year of the PS3 and the 360 is ready to curl up in a corner and die.
