@above: Is there any difference between "launch" PS4 packaging and current packaging? I think there may have been a revision of the games/screens on the back, but the overall design is identical. I believe those Amazon launch bundles were just standard consoles with an included physical game, whereas the X1s are packaged with identifying "Day One" boxes (and the achievement). So unless MS sent Amazon a batch of "Day Ones" *after* 11/22, the "Day One" X...

@Andrew:
Yoshida's actual quote to Famitsu (which your link conveniently failed to include):
"It's not that our hardware policies are decided strictly based on user reaction like this, but when we were thinking about what we had to bring across and how to bring it across, it was a very useful source."
I shudder to think of what kind of incongruous fanboy mental gymnastics allow this to be translated as "Sony had the EXACT SAME D...
" (while having essentially a second virtual GPU for less immediate needs)"
Ah, so this was our mistake all along... We didn't realize the 2nd hidden dGPU was "virtual."
@system22: The PS4 CPU clock has never been officially confirmed, only assumed, and as stated above, actually outperformed the X1 CPU on a per-core benchmark.
Or perhaps, just perhaps, they don't see the need under the current conditions for two consoles, or see the value proposition in footing two subscriptions.
And OMG, I've now gone two generations (a gen and a half?) not playing any Nintendo franchises. How will I ever survive not having "experienced" every game?
"once they do, the gap will shrink."
Man... You b crazy.
Georgenoob: "herrr... PS4 haz no gaemz1!"
Yet...
PS4 attach rate: 2.93
XBO attach rate: 2.9
<mind blown>
"Retaliate" with what, exactly? Whatever it is, I hope it doesn't languish in a stockroom after being "sold-in to retailers."
"More Titanfalls to come..."
...on PS4.
Ah yes, attach rates...
PS4: 2.93
XBO: 2.9
"Just wait until that releases and see the boosts in sales."
"look for Xbox to have a comfortable lead in the USA."
You can wait and look all you want, but I would advise against holding your breath.
"NPD=VGChartz"
That is for to "lol."
"You're in for a treat with that backlog, holy crap."
I think so. I've saved every "free" Mini, PSP, PS1, and Vita game (except one or two that I had absolutely no interest in) since PS+ launched.
It was really the standard micro-USB charge port that made me wait for the US 2000 release, but the other changes are (mostly) welcome as well. I was pretty close to just importing, but I think that X/O swap would bug me.
I'm just waiting for the 6th for my preordered 2000.
Been impatient and trying to find a 1000 in SF East Bay CA (to sell off when my 2000 arrives), and they are nowhere to be found. Out of stock everywhere.
Can't wait to put my PS+ backlog to work!
Sucks that both my PS3s are full though. Gonna pop a spare hdd into one of them and download all my PS+ Vita games so they're ready to load as soon as my 2000 shows up. Already got my ...
Mister X, is that you?
Your Oracle friend doesn't mention Sony when discussing enterprise network services? Shocking.
Almost as shocking as my friend who works at Samsung who says MS isn't even considered a "small competitor" in the flat panel TV market.
Between that, "no end in site," and stuff like his references to "multiplier FPS," the article appears to be the miraculous product of a functional illiterate.
Especially considering that he gave a total non-answer to the ray-trace question.
@above: PS4 already supports DX11.2, and it looks like 75%+ of the new DX12 features will work on 11.2-compatible hardware. For those features that require new hardware, DX12 includes 11.2 backwards compatibility that will use the nearest 11.2 alternative.
