Personally I want this only to upgrade my ambassador program titles. I just want to be able to close the 3ds and expect the system to go to sleep... freeze/defrost would be nice too though.

I'm happy about this it could mean a new metroid or starfox since nintendo is very invested in making their big HD core franchises. It is smart. Most 3rd parties wont make for nintendo consoles because they know they don't have the recognition to compete with nintendo games. Plus interesting to think what a good developer could do with those franchises on the wayside that nintendo just doesn't have the time to touch.
No, they still have too much in the bank to die this year. If they have 2 years where wii U isn't getting momentum and 3ds stops being profitable. Then I think this could be possible. However, nintendo's stocks have recovered and they're not doing that bad so... it's more of the same on N4G.
The crash is sadly coming. There's more incredible good games than any one person can play. We're very close to market saturation. People expect more and more. The good news is maybe we'll finally hit a point where gaming can plateau at a standard in graphics expectations that is affordable to make on. Then we'll finally have innovation in gameplay and story as a higher prerogative than how much better it looked in polygon numbers.
