From my understanding, the software will consist of user generated content tools.
The "tech demos" are just there as examples and to get a feel of how it works. The bulk of labo content is in what users create with the saftware, not the "tech demos" themselves.
Its 70-80 dollars for the SOFTWARE. You can make use any cardboard for it, it just comes with a STARTER KIT.

The only Tombraider game I have played is the reboot, remastered on PS4. I got Rise of the Tomb Raider on XB1 when it first came out...yet to play it.
I passed on Horizon Zero Dawn due to female lead.
I acknowledge that those are great games, I even enjoyed the remake of TR to an extent. It is just my preference to play as a male and 9 times out of 10 I will pass on a game with a female lead, no matter how good it is.

How is this news???
@Varmint
No where did I say that I discriminate against games that are made like that. I just state that I tend to avoid them because I don't want to play games with those types of characters. Those that do will buy, why should I force myself?
My issue is not with the games, but the one sided view media outlets like this have. They preach that we should buy games that might feature something I might not like, or I am a bigot for not supporting it w...
I don't want to play as an overweight character and I don't want to play as a female. No discrimination, just my personal preference for the sake of my immersion. I tend to avoid games that force me to play as either of those for the main character. Everyone has their own preference to roles they want to play, period.
Is that really such a hard concept to understand? I mean they preach it, but when other people's preferences don't line up with their own,...
Because it is not available on Switch or PS4...
That was my first reaction as well XD
I measure sales as a success. Does the consumer see it as something they want to buy. All signs of what we are seeing thus far, and what is coming later down the road, point to yes. It will likely outsell the PS360 lifetime IMO.
What you listed are grips you have with the system itself, which as we have seen so far, has not held up sales. What you hope to see the device have =/= sales and overall success.
Portability and games are selling it, anything...
Right, it was more of a reaction to blacking out and cheating than anything else.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore...
Well there are some things we can look at to see long term success.
Portability- The main selling point of the Switch. More and more people are seeing how usful this feature is when playing big games, especially adults. Sure it won't get the most demanding of PS4 games, but at this rate it is likely to get most of the less demanding games. This will make up a lot of the Switch's library and many people will want a portable version of these games.
Yeah it wont beat PS4, but it does not have to. It is already on the road to success regardless.
2 years into its life, just seems kind of late to put it in. Unless they give us some seriously boss features, which I doubt, they should just wait until the Switch 2 comes out and start fresh. The longer they wait, the more less core gamers that did not even know it was coming will complain.
You literally just described every open world game in gen 7...and many of gen 8...
@Chickey
No less dismissive than not considering those that were turned on to the game due to the anime style, just because they did not like it.
No. FFXV was a complete game out of the box, it had plenty of content.
What it also had though was a lot of plotholes and unanswered questions. The story needed to be fleshed out more, but the content was there.

But do most people have a laptop that can run current gen games, easily accessible in a public setting, and have enough power to handle the drop in performance after about an hour of play without a power source?
The Switch is a console that will actually not be affected by this much at all. The reason for a Switch is the simplicity behind its portability. For that reason alone, there is still a reason to get one, more so than other consoles with emulators. Emulators have never killed a console, this will be no different.
If anything it give options to Switch owners who legally create their own roms in the form of mods and 4K. So you have easily portable and docked options, as w...
No matter how you look at it, it is $69 cardboard with software.
If it is brilliant or not however...well that depends on how well it sells. I am not defending nor bashing the idea, as I stand neutral till I see what all the software can do. But when you think about it, if a polished dog turd sells, it is still a brilliant business move.
