I really wish they would continue this franchise...
One correction I need to make, as this does keep Sony and MS on a higher level for save backups.
You can use USB flash drives to swap data from one PS4 to another, I was under the impression that you could not. My mistake on that part.

I was misinformed. I was under the impression that USB save backup would not be able to be used on a different PS4.
I was wrong and admit to my mistake...sorry for the confusion.
Niether does Sony or MS. Any external storage you use can only be used on the same PS4 or X1. If it breaks and you tey to load it to a different system, it formates the USB or HDD for that system and wipes it clean. They are all just as bad in that regard, wake up.
I will say this though...ALL games need to be able to be backed up. Some of them not being eligible is BS.

You do not need to move save data to the SD card because just like any other console's HDD it would be reformatted and lost when put into a different Switch.
His complaint is thay it should be free for Nintendo, yet both Sony and MS also have theirs behind a paywall. In fact it was Sony that started the payed cloud saving trend to begin with. Also due to HDD data being wiped on reformat, PS and X1 can also only be backed up with the payed cloud...
You will never use 32 gigs of save data. Even my PS4 saves, which I have many more of since launch, even come remotely close to to 10 gigs, let alone 32...
So if you get an SD card for digital downloads and dlc, you have more than enough save data available.

Final Fantasy 11 was crossplay with 360/ps2/PC. In the 360 era, it was MS that prevented it, because they had the edge.
Now that Sony has the upper hand, they are preventing it while MS is for it to appease to gamers more.
Whoever is on top is the culprit everytime. It is not one company or the other every gen.

Devs from other games have already said it was Sony refusing XPlay outside of PC, not MS.
Look I am a Playstation guy over an XBox guy, but do not be blind. We can live in the real world and still prefer Playstation. No company is perfect.
Why can't they just go back to what Final Fantasy actually was from the beginning? An epic adventure individualized for each game that takes place in similar fantasy worlds. That is all they need. Screw the sequels, DLCs, and overfocus on visuals that need to take from the gameplay as compensation.
Xenoblade 2 was nowhere near as pretty as FFXV. yet it was 10 times more epic and enjoyable to me. They need to just make a game that looks good, plays great, and deliver...

You clearly have no idea how unions work. Devs could still belong to one developer, the "pool" of devs you speak of would not exist. They would all just get paid based on their classification based on their skills, experience, and possition. They could still make more if the dev wanted to pay them more, but they cannot be paid less than a certain amount and benefits would be negotiated into their contract for them.

But really, we all know what is next for Final Fantasy. FFVII will be reskinned with different characters to be Final Fantasy XVI on next gen consoles 10 years from now. The writing is on the wall.
It will also sell us the story and sidequests through microtransactions for each individual quest. The pattern we see now is XIII started episodes through three games, XV did episodes through expansion DLC, so natrually XVI will sell each individual quest as a micro transactio...
At this rate, characters will be reskinned and the story will be altered to become Final Fantasy 16...

I embraced Chrono Cross for the sequel it is. It did tie up a major loose end from Trigger, but had ao much potential. Chrono and the gang were dead in that reality sure, but it was confirmed that Cross was just one of many realities that existed (Radical Dreamers also being part of this multiverse).
