They always affect gameplay, even if it's just lowering the drop rates and upping the grind to earn stuff in-game, they do that to make those MTs JUST that much more tempting.
Creating your own unique work is actually far more likely to impress and get you noticed in that industry tbh, but I can see why some might think it's a shortcut.

A semi-auto is not an assault rifle, it is simply a rifle. I doubt it's an actual AK-47 then, but something of the same family designed to be civilian-issued, in which case it should have a different designation.
