His beef with the games is that people don't take him seriously as an original author because they assume he's writing licensed books based on the games, or that people expect them to be like the games and then get upset with him when they're not.
Yeeeeah, the new Trilogy has a trio of central characters, similar to the original, and like then, only one is a woman. The next movie is focused on Luke Skywalker. There are a TON of comics and novels with male leads, as well as the current TV series.
If it really bothers you that maybe ten out of thirty pieces of media have a female lead, you might have some issues.
