Call me crazy, but in an open world action game, I don't want half my screen missing. Distracting, reduces visibility, makes it harder to engage in the platforming/stealth elements.
Draw distance, environmental detailing, model detailing, FOV during battles...

If anything, based on that, the Switch version of DQXI is likely gonna be an enhanced version of the 3DS build.
Based on the footage for DQX on Switch & PS4... kinda don't think Sony'd be too worried on that front, more likely for the sake of the 3DS version.
