I seriously doubt there will be much, if any, 4K gaming done next gen. However, I'm inclined to believe that Sony will include 4K Blu-ray and display support. It would make business sense for them with their approaching 4K TV and camera lines in the future. They have to think in 5-7 year terms, after all.
Note: I don't think including this will be nearly as expensive as the Blu-ray player in the PS3 initially was.
The incentive is more players will spend $60 instead of $40. The developers know that very few are likely to buy both versions of a game. Instead, they can convince the consumer to spend $60 on the PS3+Vita version rather than $40 on just the Vita version, increasing their net profit.
There's even a good chance that someone who wasn't going to buy the game at all will now shell out $60 to get both versions. There's quite a bit of upside, especially considering the...
@RedHemi300c
Because it looks like they created it in 3. It likely took much longer, but the entire game is recycled Black Ops assets. Surely they can work on mechanics and polish it up in two months, at least a little.
The Vita is supposedly really easy to program for. Tearaway only took a year with 15 people working on it.
I'm not saying we'll see a drastic change, but there is still hope.
"this game supposed to be the ultimate PlayStation fan service dripping with nostalgia."
Sorry, I've seen this said too many times. It's not supposed to be that. That may be part of the draw, and I'm sure it will be part of the marketing, but it's not the object of this type of game.
In the end, this type of game (Super Smash Bros., PASBR, etc.) is an advertisement wrapped in a great game. This is especially true for the third party ...
1. My point wasn't that GT6 will definitely be a PS4 title. My point was that it's entirely possible (and not "stupid", as EDMIX would have you believe) for it to be a PS4 title.
2. The premium GT5 cars have high enough poly counts to be PS4 cars. They may just need new textures and shaders. They certainly wouldn't be "standard" quality. And since they're going to be building tons of high quality cars for GT6 anyway, you might as well put i...
@EDMIX
No Gran Turismo title has ever had it's first incarnation come out 4 years after the console's launch, which makes the two per console rule completely moot.
If GT6 released late 2014, like you admit is possible, don't you think it would be a bit strange that it's releasing on a last-gen console? Why would Sony let them release their best selling game on their old console? The PS4 could be a year old by that point.
Also,...
Or maybe (and this is hopeful thinking) one of Activision's studios is working on next years version for the Vita and they plan to alternate every other year. Sony probably wanted COD launch year, so they used one of their own studios to make it happen.
From the trailer, it doesn't look like Nihilistic had enough time or resources to work on it. Hopefully, future CODs will feature a bit more polish, for Sony's sake.
Do all buildings have a 13th floor? Do all planes have a 13th row? But surely, the world isn't afraid of the number 13, right?
Exactly. It's not out of the question for them to avoid the number 4. Particularly if MS names their console the 720, 8, or Infinity. The PS4 would look inferior next to any of those.
Or maybe people are just answering his question without using a bubble to type "No".
Ask Sega how well that strategy worked out for them.
SPOILERS, obviously.
1. Because it's been 8 years since Batman Begins released. TDK's timeline was only a month or so after Batman Begins. Thus, TDKR had to bridge the gap somehow to explain Bruce's aging. Not to mention the movie borrows heavily from The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel and it makes the story better for him to be old and past his prime.
2. When you get older, you'll see. The punishment his body sustained when he was younger too...
"I didn't even see this as a Batman movie it was an action/drama flick that just so happened to have comic book hero/villain's names in it."
It took you 3 movies to figure out what Nolan was trying to do? This is the whole point. He's not trying to make a great comic book movie, he's trying to make a great movie. Things like venom and the Catwoman name don't fit in Nolan's universe.
It's no Splinter Cell, but since Uncharted 2, almost every area is "stealth-able". So I don't really understand where you're getting the stealth "missions" thing.
Sure, there's the early part of Uncharted 2 that required stealth, but after that the player has plenty of choices on how to approach a combat section. They're mini-sandboxes really. Granted, it's really hard to stealth an entire area, I've only been able to completely...
Hey, that means we can use Steam on our PS3's using the Other OS function!
Oh wait...
Just kidding ;)
What you want is a handheld with 4G (maybe even 5G). 4G is still in it's infancy and doesn't have a huge infrastructure yet. Maybe Sony will release a 4G version of the Vita in the future, but I don't think they wanted to drive the price up at launch. Particularly since 3G itself is an experiment for them.
For now you have Wi-Fi, Ad-Hoc, and Single Player modes.
26 new games to play!
Admittedly, a lot of them are fairly old games that I never got to play. And I bought Portal 2 simply for the User-Generated levels.
Sony, and every other console manufacturer in the world will always deny a price drop, even if there is one incoming. Doing otherwise could cause a slow in sales.
But they will probably just increase value for the current price points and introduce newer models at lower price points.
And Sony is making a ton of money on each PS2 that's sold, why would they stop selling it?
I can't believe I'm responding to this, but do you realize you just put 65 million gamers into a box?
If that were true, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper wouldn't sell.
The views of part of a group do not reflect the entire group. Rare also made Perfect Dark, by the way.
LBP Karting will be a huge jump from LBP2.
From what I've read, you have all the tools from LBP2, plus some new ones, all in 3D. And you're not limited to Karts, either. With the Controllinator, you can create a character, then make a full 3D level.
Karting is the main focus, but by no means is this just a Karting game. Some have even said it's LBP 3D + some karting.
No disrespect to your daughter, but I'm not sure she realize...
Which is a shame. I feel like third-parties are hampering the cast a lot.
It's still great but Crash and Spyro are essential, and Square Enix, who isn't contributing any characters, could have given the game Cloud, Lara Croft, and Sora or someone similar from Kingdom Hearts.
Add those 5 and there would be very few complaining about "well-known" characters.
