If we're going to compare apples to apples, let's look at PC and SimCity which required an online connnection to play.

Do I need to continue?

Well, when GT does make the jump to PS4, they already have a very strong foundation. The last thing Gran Turismo car models need is more polygons. Higher-rez textures? Maybe.

Where Gran Turismo graphics need to improve most is the tracks and little things like anti-aliasing and real-time reflections, something the PS4 shouldn't have any problems with.

But I'm happy with another PS3 game for now, though I still have plenty to do in GT5.

When was the last time a game was stored on a VHS? Exactly. The entire PS1 library is burned on CDs. In fact, there are a number of PS2 games on CDs. The rest are on DVD. Old technology or not (despite CD audio quality being much better than digital), it's still a commonly used media on a Playstation.

The PS4 will support CDs. Now stop giving Kotaku the attention it craves.

Get excited: they're announcing Cross Game Chat for PS3.

I think the world is ready for the PSP2, we've been waiting way too long for a successor to the great PSP.

I also think Nintendo should announce the Wii 2 at E3 this year and catch Sony and Microsoft off-guard. Maybe they can find some way to combine the DS and Wii so you're gaming at home on two screens with optional motion control. That would be awesome.

Speaking of successors, when is Microsoft going to release the sequel to Windows 7? I love that ...

I'll get my coat.

Not sure why you're getting disagrees, it's clearly a typo. The title should read "... A New Challenger Awaits..."

But we're all human, so whatever.

I've had Burnout Paradise since launch day ('twas my first PS3 game), I'm ready for a new open world Burnout, especially one I can take on the go. I'd prefer a real Burnout, but this will do. Oh and by the way, "just" Burnout is kind of silly. The Burnout series has been critically acclaimed since the first game.

Perhaps if you want to play a Need for Speed that's more your style, you should go buy the original Most Wanted again. Most people pref...

The weird thing is that the Takedown camera was featured in their E3 demo. I can't imagine why they removed it when it used to be optional.

Hate to break it to you, but they're all kids movies and always have been. The possible exception being Revenge of the Sith, but I can't imagine you want that to be the model for 7-9 over 4-6.

Hold on, they axed Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Really? That's a horrible decision. Next you're going to tell me that DC canceled Young Justice.

It's kind of hard to put Gran Turismo into a fighting game...

Holiday 2012 does look relatively weak for Sony (which is the first time in a very long time, IMO), but Spring 2013 looks great for them. In fact, 2013 in general should be a very good year for the PS3.

"Sure, the market is growing"

Perhaps if you read, you wouldn't be quite so condescending. You clearly missed the point, but I'll bite.

The truth is, just last generation, Nintendo and Microsoft only sold around 25 million consoles. The PS3 has outsold both of those consoles by ~40 million. Tell me, is that proper perspective?

Regardless of market growth, the PS3 is still far from a failure. Relative to the PS2, perhaps, but...

It's funny, because the PS3 is still the fifth best selling console of all time behind the PS2, PS1, Wii, and Xbox 360.

Sure, the market is growing, but still, there are more PS3s in existence than the NES or SNES.

Not making a statement, just putting things into perspective.

"The PS3 has 256MB dedicated RAM for games and 256MB for the OS."

Where in the world did you pull that from?

The PS3 has 512MB total across the system. 256MB for the CPU and 256MB for the GPU. The OS, which can pull from both, uses around 50MB last I heard. That's ~460MB for games.

Just wanted to clear that up. Personally, I don't think the WiiU needs more RAM than 1GB. If anything is going to bottleneck, it'll be the CP...

"it seems that from April onwards next year, PS3 exclusives will not be relevant again. "

Interesting, so you think The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls are releasing before April?

And don't forget the games that were announced at GamesCom. They'll be late 2013 releases, most likely.

However, there are obviously developers working on PS4 games. If they weren't, people would criticize Sony for launching without any games....

Not even, say, Rayman Legends?

4903d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I bet you the PS4 could run Rayman Lengends in 4K at launch, but it wouldn't really make much of a difference. The kinds of games that would benefit most from 4K (polygons) won't be in 4K. And I agree, I'm still not entirely sure that developers are going to opt for 1080p when they can render at 720p and make an even better looking game. That trend may continue next-gen.

No, if the PS4 has 4K support, and I think it will (even if it's an add-on accessory), it ...
