The sad thing is: I think Madden could be great on Wii U because of the tablet. Obviously, you could call the plays on it, and probably flip through them faster than you can with a controller. But you may even be able to draw a hot route, or draw entire plays with the gamepad.

Maybe I'm over-estimating EA though.

If I go to McDonald's and buy a salad, I'm not paying for a cheeseburger. McDonald's may use my money to further their cheeseburger making, but the transaction I participated in had nothing to do with cheeseburgers.

Now that we're clear on that. Can you play online on PSN without paying a cent? Yes. Is PS+ required to play online? No.

PS+ is a rental/discount service. Like you said, it's a very smart business strategy. It has tremendous va...

He's not, but he may make an appearance, you never know. Or they're saving him for the sequel.

I won't spoil who the villain is for those that don't want to know, but they mentioned who it was in the comments section on the PSBlog.

It says in the interview that they're using game assets. Which means, they're either PS4 assets, or (I think more likely) they're the high LOD PS3 assets.

Either way, if there is a PS4 Rachet, it will have graphics at least as good as this movie. Except the anti-aliasing probably won't be quite as good.

I don't like the sound of this. What happens when the Sun goes out? I swear, my sun goes out at least once a day.

8GB GDDR5 unified for the CPU and GPU to share. There is no separate pool of VRAM.

It was suggested in an interview that the OS actually has a separate pool of memory. So potentially, the devs could have the entire 8 GB. Though, I think they would still be happy with 7 GB.

I'm too lazy to look for it, so you'll just have to take my word for it. Or don't, I don't care. But it was suggested it was done that way to accommodate streaming and sharing while playing without eating at gaming resources.

How do we know it's delayed at all? Perhaps it was always planned for 2014?

The original rumors had Microsoft for 2013 and Sony for Spring 2014. What if they just had them backwards?

Rumors are well and good, but you repeat them enough times and they seem to become facts. This article is meant to question that the 720 will come out this year, but doesn't question that it was PLANNED to come out this year.

We know a lot less than we th...

I have a question that just occurred to me. How will Sony handle Sharing while playing rated M games (or the equivalent)? For instance, uploading a God of War sex mini-game, complete with nudity, would probably violate Facebook's terms of service, and at least need to be in the Mature section of YouTube, if it was allowed at all.

How will this be handled? Will Sharing be prevented for certain games, or certain scenes, and if so, who decides which ones? Where do you draw t...

A few bullshots in the now category. Also, using a screen from Tomb Raider: Underworld instead of the new one?

Still, a nice bit of nostalgia.

That only works if the new hardware is similar enough, or powerful enough, to emulate the old hardware.

The Cell is not a conventional chip by any means. There's a reason people strung several PS3's together to perform calculations.

PCs more powerful than the PS4 can't emulate PS3 games at playable framerates. Why do you think it would be so easy for Sony to do so on the PS4? The games would have to be recoded and rereleased like the PS2 collectio...

You could also pay $150 to have your PS3 fixed if it's out of warranty. That's probably less than the premium you would pay to get a PS4 with BC.

Or just wait on the PS4 until it comes down in price, since you have a whole bunch of games to play.

Is it more inconvenient? Sure. But it's hardly a problem that's impossible to solve.

"GameCube used discs, the N64 didn't. BC wouldn't really work there either. "

PS3 used Cell, PS4 doesn't. BC wouldn't really work there either.

Less obvious to the consumer, maybe, but still a legitimate reason to not include it.

Although I would like at least PS1 games to be supported. PSP and Vita both do software emulation of those just fine. There's also plenty of PS1 games on the PS Store. Seems strange.

How is one illusion "real 3D" and another illusion isn't? Wouldn't "real 3D" be actual objects in a three-dimensional space?

That said, this method does not create a different perspective for each eye, so it's going to be a lot more subtle unless you're bouncing around on the couch.

You realize that Sony is using Gaikai technology to do a lot of the standout features of the PS4? Live streaming? Gaikai. Play while downloading? Gaikai. Remote play that actually works? Gaikai.

The acquisition of Gaikai was about a lot more than just playing games over a server. Watch the conference again and see how many times Gaikai is mentioned outside the context of a streaming gaming service.
