Are you kidding? NONE of those games can come close to the hype the Wii is getting, nor the hype Halo is getting. Furthermore, only two of those games are going to come out this year and only one of them guaranteed to come out this year (Warhawk).

My question is ...

Since the $499 model is essentially history now I wonder how much the price drop is going to be by the end of the year. $100 price drop is pretty steep for a product that has only been out for one year.

The bigger question is, will even a $100 price cut boost sales dramatically? In reality, the PS3 would still cost $600 to get it out the door with one game and tax. Much better than $700 it currently takes to get the PS3 out the door with one game and tax.

A $3...

This projector is very, very, good for it's price range, but it ain't no IMAX :) It suffers from relatively poor brightness, hence why it's cheaper than the RUBY projector; this projector's progenitor. I must say though, watching any of these new 1080p projectors is as good as watching in a theater (currently). This will change in the future when the movie theaters switch over to digital as well.

What the heck is a "Healthy stock level?" Never have heard that one before. I would consider a healthy stock level a situation where the product's supply is just barely meeting demand. This is simply not the case with the PS3. Sony is going to stop production for a few months in order to take advantage of advances in cell yields and the new considerably cheaper blu-laser diodes flooding the market in the next few months.

Demand is currently satisfied and I don't t...

The company that Sony allegedly stole the Blu-Ray tech from could easily try and get a judge to block sales of ALL Blu-Ray media pending trial. The company in question could state irreparable harm was done by Sony and could attempt to halt the format. Now, of course, this would be one of many ploys possible to get Sony to buck up and cough up mega bucks to avoid even the slightest possibility of an injunction against Blu-Ray media production.

Sadly, Sony is run by a bunch of ...

The RAM in the PS3 is deficient in regard to running an enterprise server. Personally, I think that Sony purposefully shortchanged the PS3 in it's RAM to make it less appealing for businesses and researchers to buy the PS3 en masse, as a cheap server/supercomputer.

That's just a theory.

On another note, it was widely reported before the PS3 launch that the PS3 was going to be snapped up by Universities and Scientists to be used as low cost supercomputers, but th...

"Sony has invested over 40 billion dollars on the ps3 alone."
No, Sony has not invested over 40 Billion dollars on the PS3. Sony's revenue for 2006 was $63 Billion dollars, and that's revenue NOT net income. Sony does not have $40 Billion Dollars in the bank, and had to borrow $800 Million dollars for the PS3 launch, so it's impossible for Sony to have spent $40 Billion dollars on research for anything.

Furthermore, no company in the history of the world ha...

I have not read a consistent report on the Blue-Laser debacle yet. I have heard the Chinese have flooded the market with cheap BL diodes. I have heard that Sony themselves have upped production of BL diodes to 1.7 million per month (far outstripping demand). However, just a few months ago there was a Blue-Laser shortage. Now, the cost of the BR drive in the PS3 was pegged at about $125, with most of that cost attributed to the BL pickup. If Sony can produce or buy the BL diodes at a repo...

Lair went from a must buy, to rental status once I actually saw the "gameplay" videos. It looks like Space Harrier from 1985. I thought the dragons would fight and play more "heavy handed" and realistic than just firing fireballs like a shooter; much like Space Harrier.

Also, the lighting is inconsistent in the game from what I have seen; the dragons totally contrast everything else in the game. Granted, the game is still under development, and hopefull...

200GB, old and busted.
New hotness, 100TB.

This guy:

has invented an atomic switch; coupled with holographic-ultraviolet lasers, his disk can store 100TB at a projected (initial) cost of the drive at $750.

Blizzard, quite blatantly, ripped off Warhammer 40k, which has been around for 30 years and I have always wondered how Blizzard never got sued by Games Workshop. I am really let down in regards to the graphics of SCII. I mean, come on, it's been what, ten years since Starcraft was released and the SCII only looks 15% better than Starcraft?

Sony is far from fine. They have a net loss of $483 Million for one quarter and the games division, by itself, lost $882 Million, and that includes all the profits still coming in from the PS2. Furthermore, and this is not reported very often, Sony borrowed over $800 million last year to pay for the PS3 launch.

I keep on hearing and reading, "This year is going to be the breakaway year for Sony. Sales of the PS3 are going to take off and in a big way!" Well, if th...

One thing that is puzzling me is the extra two million PS3 units unaccounted for on VG charts. Sony said they sold 5.5 million PS3s for Q4 which just ended, but VG charts only show 3.3 million sold. Surely TWO MILLION PS3's can't be "sold" sitting on the shelves worldwide! Sony can't lie on their units sold in their financial report, so either there are two million PS3's sitting on shelves, or in warehouses, or the much vaunted VG charts are worthless. I am also curious as to why ...

Sony is the master of spin, bar none. Sony announces a $600 million dollar loss for Q4, but immediately states about how great Spiderman 3 is doing and that Sony expects to raise profit margins by FIVE HUNDRED PERCENT by the end of the year! What a spin!

Sony forgets to mention that last year they borrowed (for the first time in the history of the company) $800 million dollars to offset the PS3 and battery recall losses. Sure, Spidey and the LCD segment will continue to brin...

Halo 2 has sold almost 8 million copies and is still number 33 on the worldwide best selling charts, so four million pre-orders does not seem unrealistic. Look at Gears of War, it has sold almost four million copies worldwide, and Halo has a much more rabid fan base (albeit one can argue it's the same fan base as GOW). If Halo 3 sells four million on release day, then Microsoft stands to make close to $300 million dollars in gross sales.

Really, at this point, it's not about...

The Cell and the 360's processor are relatively equal, but I would give the edge to the cell as it was designed specifically for applications beyond the PS3, specifically in supercomputer-type applications. However, the GPU in the 360 is considerably more powerful than the PS3, but I seriously doubt Microsoft would give access to the GPU for security reasons.

As for dead xboxes, my launch 360 died a few months after launch and they replaced it for $130, but then refunded my mo...

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater sold only 3.96 million units worldwide and that's with an install base of close to 90 million PS2's at the time. The PS3's install base is only 3.28 million right now and best case scenario sees the PS3 doubling that number by the end of the year.

So, if MGS3 sold upwards .04% of the install base of the PS2, then it stands to reason that the same percentages would apply to the PS3 install base, assuming that the series popularity has not leveled...

I went to my local best buy and they had Wiis in stock, a lot of them. I had to go back to the same best buy about two hours later and they were all gone. Sure, not everyone wants a Wii, and yes, as it stands right now there are not many good games for the Wii, but the Wii is still "on fire" right now and will remain that way till at least the end of the year, which is not good for Sony, as each household that purchases a Wii, will most likely not purchase a PS3 till the PS3 comes...

Sure, everyone WANTS a PS3, but is everyone willing to pay the price for the PS3? Obviously not, as the PS3 would be sold out everywhere, and it's far from sold out anywhere. The point of entry for the PS3 is now a minimum of $700 with one game, the PS3 and tax. Just about everyone wants a Wii and it's affordable, that's why it's selling like gangbusters. Even the 360 is slightly out of most people's price range.

This Christmas is critical to the PS3. If Nintendo manages to ...

I think Wal-Mart is going to release their HD-DVD player at $99. $299 is too much; encroaching on "real" HD-DVD players, like the Toshiba. $199 is a good deal, but I think Wal-Mart understands that the average Wal-Mart consumer does not view HD-DVD as that much more superior than regular dvd, but wants to provide a cheap (blu-ray) alternative to customers purchasing new flat screen televisions; ironically, most of which are nowhere near HD quality, but will be in the very near futu...
