Epic is pretty smart. No built in PS3 level/mod/skin editor means that anyone who wants to make a mod/skin/etc. will have to buy the PC version as well. HOWEVER, if mods/maps made on the PC translate perfectly to the PS3, then all a user would have to do is download the map/mod/skin from any of the myriad of UT sites.

The rumor has already been proven false as Sony is releasing an 80 Gig PS3 next month and has already stated that the 60 gig is on it's way out.

A 40 Gig hard drive costs more than a 60 or 80 gig these days and with Sony's buying power it's irrelevant anyway. 80 gig will be the standard for the PS3 in the near future.

Personally, I think both Sony and Microsoft showed weakness with the multiple sku systems. They both essentially said that they did not have enou...

Kids don't turn into cold-blooded killers because of videogames or music. This bastard kid would have killed someone sooner or later. There is a world of difference between bashing someones head in with a lead pipe in real life and killing someone in a videogame. To go to that next level and kill someone, especially for no reason, requires a pure evil heart.

I think Sony realizes that it simply is not going to have a strong enough line up to counter the 360 this Christmas (that's not a bash) and IS prepping for a $399 PS3, which would be great as I could buy another one.

Another funny tidbit to consider is that a $399 price point for a PS3 is actually also beneficial to Nintendo as well! A WiiS3 is possible then, instead of a Wii60.

However, if Sony decides to go back to the $599 pricing after the 60GB model is depl...

If the Sony president would have said 2009 as the date when the PS3 would "win" then I would have given it some credence. March 2008 is impossible unless the PS3's price drops to $299. The Wii is simply selling too good (selling OUT) for Sony to catch up Nintendo's five/six million unit lead.

I am really let down that Sony is still sticking to it's $599 guns. Look at the spike in sales because of the $499 price! I think Microsoft knew that Sony really was not lowe...

The PS3 is 425 pounds in Europe, which translates to over $900 with one game. Sony already screwed over Europe with the delayed launch and the considerably higher price this non-price drop is a slap in the face.

I know that Sony is saying "Well, we JUST launched a few months ago in Europe, so they can't possibly expect a price cut already."

The real test of the PS3 is JAPAN. Sales have flatlined in Japan and if they don't pick up Sony is in danger o...

Developing a PS3 game is quite an expensive undertaking, especially with each dev kit costing $30,000 (which is ridiculous) so developers must be able to cut costs wherever possible.

Since the PP3 install base is very low at this point it is not entirely economically feasible to make a better PS3 version of a cross platform game.

Why should EA spend the money to get those 60fps out of the PS3 hardware for madden 2008 when they will not sell enough copies to accou...

don't be stupid, I was making a joke; specifically making fun of fanboys. someone took away one of my bubbles, now that's ghey! As I stated before, I owned SIX xboxes, each with a copy of Halo, so I think I qualify as a big fan of halo.

I am a tad let down by the graphics and animation in Halo 3 from the E3 presentation. The graphics were too hit and miss. Some shots were just awesome, others looked like total crap and no better than Halo 2.

Before you fanboys flame me, I am as about as hardcore with Halo as they come. I used to host massive Halo parties and owned six xboxes and two projectors and seven televisions, just so that me and my roommates could deathmatch anytime we wanted.

I am jus...

The Japanese are as about as hardcore as you can get AND the PS3 has been VERY cheap in Japan (Well below $400) yet Japan has the weakest PS3 sales so far; hovering at less than a million consoles sold. This quagmire is compounded by the fact that the PS3 is also one of the coolest gadgets ever made.

People were "loyal" to the PS1 and PS2, because there was no alternative.

As for "This price drop by Sony could not have come at a worse time" ...

Sony's primary problem is that the PS3 cost too much to manufacture AND Sony was not expecting any real strong resistance to be put up by Microsoft, let alone Nintendo. Sony expected to waltz into the next generation with one of the most expensive game systems ever created and they EXPECTED the consumers to buy the PS3 no matter what price. Sony even expected consumers to work two jobs, or extra hours for the privilege of owning a PS3. Obviously, the consumers thought otherwise.

I am sick of the PS3 fanbois (who don't own a PS3) touting the "great value" that the PS3 is, like because it is a great value, it is going to sell systems. I bought my PS3 at launch and have spent close to a grand on it altogether, with games and controllers. For me, for what I was looking for my whole home theater, the PS3 was a no-brainer! It's a Blu-Ray player and a fantastic game machine-Win-Win!

However, for the average gamer the bitter pill of the cost of en...

I still maintain that my PS3 was one of the best purchases I have ever made. For what it does the price is a bargain. The biggest problem with the PS3 is that it's focus is diluted by the blu-ray "war." I love it that I got a blu-ray player with the PS3, but would not have shed a tear if they would have left it out of the PS3 design.

The whole "OMG the PS3 rulez cause it's got 50GB disc to use" arguement is totally and absolutely countered by CRYSIS; a ga...

Every Metal Gear game has seen significant drop-off in sales from it's predecessor. Even Final Fantasy has shown it's power and majesty has waned over the past ten years. My point is that I think MGS4 will most likely be a best seller, but will not push adoption of new PS3s, especially if the price of the PS3 is still $499 when MGS4 comes out.

Grand Theft Auto has lost it's gleam also, but is still very popular and Microsoft scored a coup by getting Rockstar to release it fir...

I really love how a lot of people on this board downplayed the big news that Nintendo's market cap hit $53 Billion; two more Billion dollars than Sony; a company that has eight times as much revenue as Nintendo.

Nintendo is drowning in Cash; cold, hard, CASH. Sony is bleeding money out of mostly all it's divisions except flat panel t.v.'s and their Sony Pictures division.

A price drop to $399 right now would most certainly NOT kill the 360. The 360 has built up...

The PS3 has cut their production costs, but those costs are still being implemented and will continue to be applied through the end of the year. At the very minimum, Sony has not brought down the production cost of the PS3 to $599 yet. Even is Sony had managed to pull of a miracle and bring down the production costs to $599, they would still lose the same relative amount of money (around $200) by selling the PS3 at $399.99.

This has been the noose around the PS3's neck since ...

From what I have seen, Lair seems to be an update, of sorts, to the 1985 SEGA game "Space Harrier." Not that there is anything wrong with that; I love Space Harrier, it's one of my favourite games of all time, but I was hoping that the gameplay in Lair would be more heavy-handed and not the fireball-fest-shooter it apparently is in it's current iteration.

I was hoping Lair was going to involve more strategy, but gave up hope for that when I saw the "death-o-met...

The closer Lair moves to the Halo launch the worse it will fair and that is unfortunate as it has potential to finally show off the PS3. I just hope Lair does not turn out to be a Panzer Dragoon/Space Harrier clone. One one hand those are two of my favourite games. On the other hand, I was hoping Lair would be more "heavy handed" than the simple shooter it is coalescing into.

I am all for this website posting actual price sales by reputable companies, but this post/link is nothing more than a "Pssst, hey buddy, wanna buy a cheap PS3" shady sale.

The site in question has numerous other names that the same company does business under/as. ALL of which have numerous complaints on the various complaint/scam watchdog websites, such as www.ripoffreport.com

a direct link to a sample complaint against this company is:

Is Sony on crack? In order for Sony to sell Eight million more PS3's by year end means that the public will have to spend FOUR BILLION dollars to buy the PS3s at $499 (assuming the price dropped today). I don't know of any product in the history of the world that managed to spur consumer interest to where eight million consumers would drop $500+ for one product in the short timespan of just six months.

I can see Sony selling a total of seven million PS3s by the end of the yea...
