I wouldn't say that Guitar Hero died because of over-"innovation." On the contrary, do you remember Guitar Hero: Aerosmith? Guitar Hero: Metallica? Guitar Hero: Van Halen? They were shamelessly shoveling the stuff out every few months.
Again, Tony Hawk died because Activision saturated gamers with the franchise. This is what Activision does. Push it, push it, and push it until it dies.

I have no doubt that the CoD gravy train will be coming to an end soon. If the series will not adapt and evolve, it WILL be taking the same path as Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk.
Nah, I liked the idea of bringing in a new era of war through DLC. The experience felt fine to me.
I hope DICE does something like it again for BF3. Perhaps a dinosaur mode of some sort, or a 2142 expansion.

I have absolutely no problem with online passes. I've never understood what all the fuss is about. I buy all of my games new, so I've got nothing to worry about.
If CoD had an online pass I wouldn't blame the series. I'd rather Activision receive more profit than GameS...
