i'm glad i bailed on HD-DVD. I got the add on drive for the 360, it worked great but HD-DVD was just not getting the releases. Half of my HD-DVDs at the time were also on bluray. I'm not backing bluray right now, i'm just going to wait for the players to drop a bit.
yes, your downloaded content is linked to your account. so if you reload your account onto a new system you can redownload all the arcade games, shows and extra content you paid for before.
if only they could get more of these classic aracde games, like the X-men arcade game.
i think some places stock are starting to thin out. most likely its due to the retailers. At the toyrus I work at, we had 24 ps3s shipped to us a few days after christmas. It took us until the 2nd week of Feb to sell out of that supply (including 2 more boxes and returned units) now we are only getting 2 at a time and have been out for almost 2 weeks now.
what they are probably talking about is coming up retailers may not be getting all that many due to the European launch?
get an ebay and paypal account, make a lot more for games than trades. A few times i've made money on the game I sold.

Mine died a month ago, i got it on launch day, but microsoft took care of it free of charge and got another one 2 and a half weeks later. shortly after mine crapped out originally, my friend who was behind me in line's crapped out and got his taken care of by microsoft.
but 2 weeks after that another friend of mine who got one a few weeks after launch died the same way. But microsoft won't replace it for free for him.
core systems are rotting on the shelves right now, but i can't keep the 399 units in stock at my store.
my store recieved 16 ps3s about 3 weeks ago. To date we have only sold half of those units. interest is dying down. The only systems my store has had in stock readily are gamecubes, PS3s and Core 360s. We cannot keep any other system in stock due to demand.
most stores in my area have them in stock. at my toysrus we had 16 come in Last tuesday, have only sold 6 in the week since then.
The thing that no one mentioned was how it counts the amount of PS3's sold as bluray players. But how many of those units will be used to buy and play Bluray discs?
Whereas those who buy standalone players or the add-on drives are buying them to watch the movies.
Hopefully they will relase some interesting figures when it comes to attach rates of movies.

it came down to over saturation. I was lucky to unload my 2 ps3s on craigslist for 800 a pop 2 weeks before christmas.
on thursday at my store, we had 24 Wii's come in and 12 PS3s. Both came in at 10am (we are open 8am til midnight for the holidays) We sold out of Wii's in 2 hours. It took us until 9am the following morning to sell out of our PS3s

no, they are not losing money for "the love of their gamers". They are selling them at a loss to shoehorn bluray into peoples homes. If bluray takes off they will make tons of money on lisencing fees. But then again it could just go the way of the minidisc and umd movie.
