" No, in terms of a high level concept it’s like aliens, on a space station, survival kind of stuff, so it was a good fit,” he said. “But there’s no fictional connection and no universe connection if you want that.” - The above quote pretty much confirms that this game should be a new IP. Let's see which other devs decide to "reboot " IPS with no connections to the original. It's a shame Bethesda is too cheap to even brand this game as a new franchise.
I personally think the money Microsoft invested into breaking into the Japanese market, would of been better spent on more first party games.
To be fair, COD very much helped gaming grow during the 7th generation. I, however, personally think some design traits of COD 4 were over emulated, which in my opinion negatively affected the design of numerous FPSes. Kill-streaks, loadouts and perks don't belong in all shooters, particular ones with long kill times. COD 4s design being copied can't be blamed on the success of the series, but rather developers wanting to copy it's traits in an attempt to make their IPs sell more,...
Well the time period is different, as are the characters. Also the original Prey got it's name because the aliens were harvesting people as food (i.e Prey). These certainly aren't the same aliens from the original game, the powers your character has are also different. This is a new IP, using an old name for the shake of marketing.
You are 100 % right. This 'reboot' is comparable to Sony making a rebooted Jak and Daxter that is set in a new universe and changing the main characters (e.g. make Jak female and Daxter a cat).
off-topic: Someone in this video breaths really loud....
Why is this game called Prey?
Before the release of Fallout 4, Skyrim was actually ported to the XB1. Fallout 4 was built off of the Skyrim port. It is pretty obvious the Remasterd Skyrim would take less work than Oblivion and likely sell better, since the previously mentioned game was more popular.
Red Faction 2 is the only Red Faction game I played through and I still have a copy of it. I remember using the secondary fire a lot, to blow away groups of infantry and breakthrough walls.
The modded Heavy Assault Rifle in Doom is awesome, the mini rockets were great against larger demons. In multiplayer the Heavy Assault Rifle is a bit junk, hopefully it is re-balanced when the free-for -all and oldschool deathmatch modes arrive.
Lost Odyssey will come to BC, since MS owns it.
Starcraft 2 story really went south from Heart of The Swarm on wards. Silly retcons, ruined the Zerg and Overmind back story and the introduction of 'space magic' was just lame.
That weapon was a candidate for my listing, it would of likely been an honourable mention, had I listed 10 Assualt Rifles in detail instead of 5. I very much enjoyed the single player of Killzone 2 and 3, I did occasionally play the mp of the later game.
Nope, and learn to spell.
AMD doesn't manufacture console chips, they only design them. The Scorpio and Neo are likely due to both Sony and MS, overestimating the demand for 4k and VR.
Are articles detailing the content of old games necessary? The games in the Bioshock collection are 3-9 years old, and the back of box, has an age rating, based around the game's content.
The creator of God of War, David Jaffe always wanted the series to go beyond Greek mythos. In fact, in one of the original drafts of God of War 3, the game was to include both Norse and Egyptian Gods.
I personally think Wookies look more like humanoid bears.
Shaking my head, who is agreeing with this spam?
I wouldn't say that digital foundry is in bed with Sony or anything like that. However, I have noticed them being more critical of certain games than others. For example during the analysis of Halo 5 and Quantum Break they were zooming in at 4 times normal view to show graphical imperfections. They also did a ridiculous amount of videos on the Nathan Drake Collection and were praising its visuals, despite all the titles (including the enhanced Uncharted 1), largely looking like PS3 games....
@Foxtrot I disagree with you on Tomb Raider (2013), the game felt like a more grounded and modernized Tomb Raider, also Lara was still the main character. While I haven't played any Assassin Greed games, I'm certain they all have story connects and overall similar gameplay mechanics. I am also not against existing IPs expanding into different genres, along as the titles are interconnected in some manner.
