There are two related sites that track the player counts of BF4 and Star Wars: Battlefront. Oddly Battlefront usually has about half the players of BF4 on XB1 and PS4, despite the latter game likely selling less and being 3yrs old . On PC the player count is only 2-4k, way less than the PC version of BF4 which usually sits around 21-24k. I had several friends who bought the game out of hype and got bored of it in matter of days on consoles.

The ironic thing is the gaming community, especially the PC fanbase were against the design choices of mp, since the closed alpha. Doom being due to being multiplatform had the potential to be the pillar for the return of the oldschool arena shooter. Instead we have an mp that mixes old and new FPS traits to create a poorly balanced, gimmicky multiplayer that is fun in small dosages, but doesn't live up to it's potential.

When are devs going to learn, adding crutches (perks, loadouts, etc) to help new players doesn't work. The more advanced or skilled players will just learn to abuse the crutches the Dev provided. Doom really needs a free-for-all and team death match with no hack modules, demons or loadouts. Stripping away the crutches, would allow the mp to be the old school shooter that Bethesda pretended the game was.

"To fix the issue of performance, turn down the settings or buy more powerful hardware." Even though I'm not a PC gamer, I nearly fell off my chair laughing, after reading " buy more powerful hardware". The kind of framerate throttling you describe is bad and potential damaging to CPU and GPUs. It is rather ironic, the top comments account was set up 3 days ago.......

This site is full of hypocrites, earlier this year people were bashing and mocking Quantum Break for it's review scores. Yet for No Man's Sky, the reviews "don't matter" (unless they're positive). What is even more ridiculous, is No Man's Sky's meta average indicates that the game is generally considered to be good. You are right, people look at scores and don't read or listen to why the reviewer gave his or her review score.

While in university, I would often play about 10-20 minutes of Timesplitters 2 or Unreal Championship during my study breaks against bots. The fast action of the shooters helped my mind focus and cleared away stress.

Multiplayer focused games, don't really need long campaigns. The quality of the single-player's design, gameplay and story is more important than having a super long single-player.

This quite a memorable mission, the eerie music, finding the dead space pirates, killing The Parasite Queen and finally escaping. One of the best opening missions ever, and in my opinion a really good FPS level, in a non FPS game ?

Neither game is out,so you can't completely judge either. From what I've seen both BF1and COD:Infinite Warfare play similarly to their respective predecessors. Infinite Warfare still has yet to show the its MP(maybe the formula of the mp is being heavily revised?).

COD is a very random shooter (especially the most recent ones), their is no emphasis on team work, instead the game focuses on a "try-hard" mentality of getting as many kills as possible. BLOPS ...

A Metroid Collection, with all the games, would of been perfect for the 30th anniversary. Releasing a collection of the series seemed like the obvious thing to do, but Nintendo functions in mysterious ways and instead makes a low budget, chibi-looking shooter around the anniversary of Metroid.

This article isn't an opinion piece, it's just a summary of old and newish information about Gears of War 4.

@FGHFG.... Remedy owns Alan Wake, not MS, when it was put on steam, MS may have gotten a profit cut, due them funding the game.

@Hoffmann The game is still exclusive to XB1 and Windows.

I think it would make sense to give people the option to buy from either the Windows Store or Steam at launch. Windows Store buyers pay more but gets cross buy, while steam purchases likely pay less, but don't receive crossbuy.

I find the whole idea of crossbuy a bit gimmicky, hardcore PC gamers normally don't buy consoles, and most console players don't have a PC capable of running XB1 games. However, I can see crossbuy being beneficial, if either your family o...

Remedy was already paid for the game during development, they also don't own the IP, this would of been Microsoft's decision. The game should have been on Steam day 1. Steam would of boosted the PC sales of the game. Profit margins per Steam copy would be lower than Windows Store sales, but the overall revenue would be stronger when combining the two distribution methods.

The Typhoon from Crysis 3, was indeed an unconventional multi-barrel, bullet hose SMG. I personally like the K-Volt SMG in Crysis 3. The mp in Crysis 3 would of lasted a lot longer, had the game had better netcoding.

Is the PC version of No Man's Sky fundamentally different than the PS4 version? If it's not, why would the Neo make a huge difference in how the game plays, asides from resolution, framerate and some graphical differences?
