Microsoft would likely have to pay a lump sum based on projected sales, plus licensing and engagement fees to Rockstar. Additionally, GTA 6 uses a lot of licensed music, and some employees at Rockstar probably get bonuses based on sale figures.

GTA 6 launching on Gamepass would be cost ineffective for both Xbox and Rockstar. Big Budget third party don’t launch on Gamepass because they can’t be subsidized.

I while wouldn’t say Elden Ring looked PS3-era for the most part. I wasn’t too visually impressed by the game when I played it on PS5. Elden has great art, but the technical graphics aren’t particularly impressive.

I think $100 million would be an understatement. Minecraft Mobile alone generated around $100 million of revenue last year ( https://www.statista.com/st... The PC and console versions alone probably rake in considerable revenues too, maybe more or less than mobile.

I will have to disagree. I have heavily played games with ranking systems in the past, notably Gears, Halo and StarCraft. Those games were generally more fun when playing against people of similar skill. Plus your skill would be tested every once in a while against more skilled players.

I originally had that stance. However, Wings of Liberty, was just as long, if not longer than StarCraft 1. The expansions were of decent length too and added a good amount of additional content.

For a long time I believed StarCraft II sold on par or better than its predecessor. There was so much hype for the game. Plus it had a pretty strong E-Sports scene for a few years.

Myself and half a dozen friends all bought StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and played it religiously for a full year. While I bought the expansions, most of my friends did not. RPGs seem to be a generally low selling genre.

I’m a little shocked that StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty sold only around 6 million copies. The original StarCraft did over 11 million. Maybe Blizzard was too leisurely in releasing StarCraft 2? Starcraft 2 came out 12 years after it’s predecessor.

The skins in newer call of duty cause issues because the maps are designed for a grounded, realistic looking military shooter. Characters should have a military aesthetic. However, monetization has given developers the incentive to create skins that don’t synergize with a grounded military aesthetic.

There is a theory that Embracer wanted to buy and flip studios and IPs. Embracer bought the Tomb Raider IP only to license it too Amazon. Embracer’s licensed Tomb Raider for significantly more than what they paid for it.

Embracers bought up countless studios and IPs with no planning of how to adequately use it’s acquired assets. Now the company that gloated about having more studios than Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo combined, is falling apart.

Procedurally generated landscapes are not uncommon in open worlds. The Guerrila Games used procedural tech to assist in the creation of the Horizon series ( https://m.youtube.com/watch... )AI could be used to further supplement the work done by developers when creating levels and maps.

The campaigns of Call of Duty have generally never been too long. However, it looks like MW 3s’ campaign needed a proper 2 year dev cycle to meet the series’ standard single player length. Modern Warfare 3 (2023) seem like something that should have been offered as an expansion pack.

I liked Prey (2017), but I think the original Prey was more polished and arguably better game of the two. If Bethesda had been so cheap, Prey (2017) could have trade marked as “Nightmare on Talos” or “Typhon “.

I don’t think MS could buy another game publisher due to there size. Plus it took nearly 2 years for MS to buy Activision.Any future big multi-billion dollar game publisher buyouts MS attempts in the future will be heavily scrutinized. Sega was a suggested purchase by MS According to their own documents, but the company own assessments led to them purchasing ABK instead.

It would be extremely unlikely for Disney to buy Sony as whole. Sony could possibly sell Sony Pictures ...

I expect Starfield to have similar sales to the PC and xbox versions of Fallout 4.

As an aside:

I think Starfield is a good game, I’m about 36 hrs in leaning towards an 8/10 score. The game isn’t as advanced as I would like. It still has stereotypical Bethesda restrictions, noticeable loading, AI systems need more development and lack of vehicles. Additionally, I find the side quests more engaging than the main quests. Graphics are nice, general gameplay is e...

AI voice acting has considerable potential, especially in RPG games. Imagine playing a game where your characters voice could be your own. Furthermore, NPC could procedurally generate speech based on algorithms. However, cloning the voice of people is controversial, especially when there seems to be no regulation on who can use AI voices.
