The silly mid gen upgraded, for Xbox, likely cost the division several hundred million, that could of went to 1st party games.
Both Halo Wars 2 and Gears of War 4 are still receiving content updates, those games are tied to the Coalition and 343i. If Phil Spencer, stated increase first party investment, not having stage time for the two biggest 1st party studios, obviously contradicts this. Both 343i and The Coalition, are likely still bind to one IP each.
This year's MS conference was not that good.
The good of the conference:
-Ori and the Will of the Wisp
- Release dates for State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and Cuphead
- Xbox One X was well presented
-OG Xbox backwards compatibility
Cons:
-Reliance on the obvious Forza 7
- Huge amounts of gimmicky timed indie exclusives
- Third party games got more emphasis than 1st party exclusive...
While the trailer at the conference for this game didn't impress me. I like the look of these screens. The cel-shaded art-style is really nice, and I'm a 'sucker' for cyberpunk.
MS should not bind studios to one IP. Both Halo, and Gears of War, while still successfully are no longer at their peak popular. Although Gears 4 did much better than Judgement, and Halo 5 has better player retention than Reach and 4. The Coalition and 343i, should be able to work on other action based IPs.
I have no need to get a Scorpio. I don't have a 4K TV, and the graphical difference between the base console and Xbox One X, likely won't be that huge due to d...
No, this conference basically referenced the Mattrick- Era. Few 1st party games, reliance on 3rd marketing deals and timed content. The only thing good about the conference in my opinion, was Ori and The Will of the Wisp, and OG Xbox BC. Mattrick from 2010-2013, dialed back 1st party content and invested in hardware (Kinect) and really cheap ass kinect games. Spencer, appears to be doing the same, with reliance on elite controls, console upgrades and marketing deals.
I will be playing Ori and Will of the Wisps for sure on my vanilla XB1, and likely Cuphead. Crackdown 3 is maybe, as it didn't get a chance (nor was it given one) to impress me. Also so many of the Xbox One console 3rd party timed exclusives, look like cheap indie games. In fact to me, many of them literally blended together, due to the cheap cartoon graphics and similar art.
'Right now', due to changing the FPS/Shooter, and MP landscape. It would be the perfec...
After ReCore released, I started mentioning that Phil Spencer, is not as devoted to 1st party as he states. ReCore had poor budget and needed more developement time, Phil just sent the game out to die.
Spencer likes to talk about classic games and tease them just for positive PR. People wanted new Battletch, classic Rare games, and the return of old Xbox IPs. Spencer will tease them, but he isn't willing to invest into them. Spencer has been head of Xbox long enough to...
Phil Spencer is a lying shill. Nearly all the games were third party. The only new first party game was Ori and the Will of the Wisp. 3rd party games got more screen time than first party titles. Yet 343i, and The Coalition, weren't present. Increased first party investment, my ass!
This isn't the first game to do this. Halo 5, Titanfall 2 and Gears of War 4, all have(had) free updates. Gears of War 4, strangely has a season pass though.
Criterion Games is making the single player? The studio is known mainly for racing games.
Dice is known for making lacklustre single player campaigns. Both BF4 and BF1 have extremely weak campaigns in my opinion. BF1 even recycled whole conquest maps for missions, many of the scenarios were just long tutorials. Looking at how fast Dice turns out games. And the studio's single player track record, I have no reason to be excited for Battlefront 2's single player.
@Death That is not a good comparison, mainline Halo and Halo Wars aren't the same genre and are completely different in terms of gameplay and mechanics. Forza Motorsport and Horizon are the same genre, but different sub-genres.
The Forza games should not have annual releases. Forza Horizon 3, is still selling well(especially in Europe), indicating that the game has good "legs". Annual releases just lead to eventual crashes. Plus, the Horizon subseries is more popular than the main series.
Elder Scrolls and Fallout sharing a universe, sounds plain goofy. Fallout is "nuke-punk sci-fi" , while Elder Scrolls is rather traditional fantasy.
Rocksteady are part of the Warner Bros gaming division, which is owned by Time Warner (who owns DCs). The Batman Arkham games aren't licensed games.
Starfied, would still be a new IP, that is set in the Fallout universe. Portal and Half-Life a separate IPs, but share a universe and timeline.
Tracer over the EXTRA THICC Widowmaker ! What blasphemy is this?
Bubsy being a cartoon character, doesn't really match up one-to-one with bobcat, since he is a cartoon. Also Bobcats, are themselves a species of Lynx. Banjo, from Banjo-Kazooie is often identified as a Honey or Malaysian Sun. Despite this Banjo, while small like a real-life Malaysian Sun, is brown, instead of black.
No, Crackdown 3 has a solidified release date, which is something Scalebound never had.
