Hmm, I was the opposite. GTA4 just didn't pull me in at all.. I stopped playing after about 5 hours.
But I played inFamous twice.
But why take issue with the game for that? Did the developers say its a survivor horror game or is that just what people wanted/hoped for?
You have to review games for what they are, not for what you wanted them to be. In other words, Dead Space 2 should be reviewed for what it is, an action game, not for what some people wanted, a survival-horror game.
Even the first Dead Space was not survival-horror. I can't remember any time in that game where I RE...
THANK YOU.
I am seriously so sick of people defending shite reviews by playing the opinion card.
Naturally, its impossible to be entirely objective, but like you said, you should try to see its value and why OTHER PEOPLE would enjoy the game.
When 9/10 reviews give the game high marks, its impossible to take these loner reviews seriously that imo are probably just fishing for hits. I won't give them the satisfaction.
Just read the other entries. Really, this is quite a good series of editorials. Just a reminder I guess as to why 1UP is one of the few "major" gaming sites I actually bother to check out from time to time.
With all due respect to 1UP, and DQV, which is a great game and a great remake, it just simply is not even in the top 10 DS games. That has nothing to say about the quality of the game but rather the quality of the DS library.
IMO the top 5 DS games:
GTA Chinatown Wars
Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story
Elite Beat Agents
The World Ends With You
Zelda Spirit Tracks
Mario Kart DS, the 3 Casltevania games, Zelda PH, Adv...
Terrible review score. He complains about the story, character direction, and generic scares while giving high praise to the gameplay, design, and sound. He said himself he wished it was a terrible game...biased much?
It just sounds like he wanted dead space to be a super serious Pulitzer prize worthy horror story and let that disappointment harshly effect the score. It's simply a very fun, very creepy action game with a serviceable story that shouldn't be overly scrutinized ...
And mine for this entire generation .. nfs, blur, split/second, forza, dirt, and even gt5 didn't get me near as excited as this game... I pray it delivers the experience I'm hoping for.
“I actually thinks some of those games are overpriced at one or two dollars but that’s a whole different story,”
Ok well while we're talking about overpriced, how about $30 shovelware on the DS and $50 shovelware on the Wii? Or DSiWare/WiiWare?
It's really a stupid point he's making here. He does mention Angry Birds as an exception (because everyone knows what Angry Birds is) but there are quite a few other very fun games that have a lot of cont...
You can already play PJ Shooter on your PSP via remote play. Yes, its true. Not very widely known though.
Sad but like you said, a small percentage. Probably not even 1%. Its negligible.
I'm a gamer. No special designation.
I feel sorry for all the sadsacks that have to make that decision.
Both for me, yay!
Ah, I forgot about the pro instruments. I have wanted to give them a try, but I'm not sure I'd be totally committed to the pricetag. I'll wait for a price drop or special retail offer before I consider making the plunge.. but I'll admit, the concept is pretty compelling. I applaud Harmonix for actually trying to move the genre forward rather than obliging the status quo
People don't want to admit it? Maybe in high school.
I wanked twice already today.
"Why, spin it all day long. Did you forget that Sony had MOVE. Or does that not count? "
Was Move on Oprah, Ellen, and every other daytime talk show? Was it on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? Did it have a $500m marketing budget that included a ridiculous launch party with paid actors to generate buzz?
Hmm... let me see... no, no, and no.
Obviously piracy effects sales to varying degrees, however you'd be extremely naive to think that piracy is the difference-maker between a game's success or failure.
That said, piracy is blatantly immoral and there are no reasonable excuses for it.
@ darksied
go to jail for pirating something? PLEASE DUDE. Do you have any idea how much it costs to have someone in prison?
Pay a fine, sure. But it's not so easy to collect fines. Most people wouldn't even pay them.
only when you have no friends + you are under 21
edit: but I agree with the article, the genre has grown stale.
Beatles Rock Band was the pinnacle of the music genre, it can only go downhill from there.
Moms must be disagreeing, no?
Old, were on day 7 now
