Dead Space 2 was fantastic.. enjoyed it from start to finish. Yeah, it was linear, and it had cheap scares, but that was perfectly fine by me. I'd easily put it in my top 5 this year. Shame that by the end of 2011 most "critics" seemed to have forgotten about it. Probably the scariest game this gen.
edit: although forgotten, hard to say its really underrated.. sitting just under 90% average. Pretty respectable.
And I prefer Dark Souls over Demons Souls.. though I'm likely to be in the minority there.

Not every game needs to have a mind-blowingly good story. Hell, some games are perfectly fine without any story to speak of.
Vanquish was one of the most fun games I've played this generation, and the story was cliche ridden and the dialogue was cheesy as hell. I didn't really care one iota however, because it was a blast to PLAY. That's what we do with games, PLAY them. If you want an amazing story you can watch a movie or read a book.

I'd still call myself a Nintendo fanboy. In my eyes, they can almost do no wrong, at least when it comes to game development, and I have some level of disdain towards people who bash Nintendo series as being stale, trite, or belonging in the past.

I think there needs to be a distinction between Fanboys and Haters.
True, they are often one and the same, at least, haters seem to usually be fanboys of one sort or another, but I believe its possible to be a fanboy and yet still respect, or at least be apathetic, to the opposing consoles/game genres/ect.

Kinda disappointed to not see Might and Magic Clash of Heroes, but technically it was a late 2009 retail release on DS..arriving on PSN and XBLA this year though. Fantastic game.

yeah guns are def a last ditch option, as you can see when they are hiding and Joel looks at Ellie as if to be asking should they use a bullet, she gives a worried look and nods yes.. "wish we didn't have to resort to it, but not much of an option"

Had the same problem, of course having a 300+ damage weapon and 1000+ armor really strips the challenge away. They should have capped the enchant and smithing bonuses.
Another $100 drop and I may consider it.
