What size do you mean? 5" androids? 3.5" iPhone? 4" androids? 7", 8", 10" tablets? That's the beauty of the mobile platform; there are so many different sizes of devices, if you prefer a larger or smaller screen, there is one for you. And although the Xperia Play wasn't a smash hit, at least it proved that physical controls can be done very well on a mobile device. I'd have to assume it will be done even better in the future, and hopefully from a c...
There is no evidence that mobile gaming will "forever" remain casual only. Mind you Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3, and Final Fantasy Tactics WotL are now on mobiles and there are actually a bunch of original RPGs that with quite a bit of length and content too.
The more the market for games on mobiles grows, and it is growing faster than any other game market, the more development resources and talent will be poured into making more engaging games
Simple answer is whichever platform gives you the most current gen games. PC has a few games I can't get anywhere else (Diablo, Guild Wars, ect) but PS3 and Wii have more exclusives I would never dream of missing out on.
Obviously in a perfect world everything would release on one platform (PC) and consoles would be a thing of the past, but as that has not happened with it, I'm happy playing right along.
You can say that now, but you have to expect the highest level of quality for mobile games to become better and better with time. Think about how much handheld games have gotten better over the last 5 years. Although the graphics have gotten better I wouldn't say as a whole they have become much deeper or compelling experiences, with a few exceptions of course. Mobile games on the other hand, comparing the best quality games from 5 years ago with today its a completely night and day si...
"19 percent of a $2.7 billion market in 2009 to 58 percent of a $3.3 billion market in 2011."
How do you ignore the facts?
Mobile games market in 2009: ~500 million
Handheld games market in 2009: ~2.2 billion
Mobile games market in 2011: ~1.9 billion
Handheld games market in 2011: 1.4 billion
The numbers don't lie. And you're thinking in terms of hardware. Sure the 3DS is selling well, but t...
What do you mean by soon, you can already pair a PS3 controller to Android.
While these kind of articles pop up a lot, most of them don't have the cold hard numbers to back up the fact that the mobile games market is becoming too big to ignore. It is not simply a fad as so many here delude themselves into thinking. And the content for mobiles is becoming better and better. Not on the level of 3DS or Vita mind you but given another 5 years or so it certainly could be. As the market demand for mobile games increases, as shown in this article, so will the divers...
Tablet and phone gaming is getting much better with each passing year. Never mind the fact that they are pretty sick retro/arcade emulators when set up right with HDMI and a Bluetooth controller.
Maybe its just me but people are to quick to dismiss tablets and damn them to an eternity of casual schlep. They have great potential and IMO they will transform from a good platform to an excellent one within 5 years. And physical controls aren't an impossibility mind you.
Is it a bad thing if some of us like the puzzles and platforming to break the action up and provide some variety?
I'm not at all interested in this game, but that seems a bit harsh.. care to elaborate?
When Newegg had their $10 off preorders, I went ahead and ordered 14 games, most of which I would have normally waited on until they dropped to $25-40. I usually buy just 2-3 games a year at launch, since there are so many good games that come out now it's too easy to buy the ones that I missed out on for $20 or less.
I'm not a big fan of AC2 but I think 3 is raising the bar by a considerable margin. As far as multiplat games go this one I'm most excited for which I'm in disbelief of since I think 2 is possibly the most overrated game this generation.
Dishonored will be more of a surprise hit and could be a surprise GotY candidate if it's executed well; something I still have some doubts about but I'm getting it day one nevertheless.
There's also H...
Shouldn't be a surprise. The first one was great and all the previews of 2 have shown it will surpass the first in every conceivable way.
Definitely won't be a GotY though.
Totally agree. While the atmosphere and exploration of AC2 is quite good, the combat and quest design was snooze inducing... and don't get me started on the convoluted story.
That's funny, I loved all 3 of those games.
Can't wait for this game. And Paper Mario 3ds.
"Fun" is a pretty vague concept.
Bottom line is games need to be enjoyable. I don't think that equates to "fun" necessarily. I definitely think that is the wrong word to describe Heavy Rain for example. Yet, Heavy Rain is certainly an enjoyable experience.
Nexus 7 doesn't support HDMI out. Just sayin.
July, historically the absolute best month every year with regard to AAA releases.

edit: oh. YOY. Still, with all the huge games set to release in the next couple months, I'm not surprised people are holding out.
No... but I hope they figure it out soon. Even though I don't really care for online multiplayer, they have a lot of work to do before I'd say they are proficient with it.
