1 million is a disappointment considering the install base of 360 owners in NA. I wonder what their expectation was considering the success of Devil May Cry 4 on the 360. A million compared to DMC4 sales is disappointing, anyway you put it!

Exactly! You've seen that parents were willing to buy a Wii for ONE game (Wii sports). With the right price, parents will be willing to buy a PS3 for ONE game and possibly use it as a Blu Ray player. Can't go wrong :)
Actually the GTA fanbase is larger on the PS3 as it pushed more hardware for Sony. Total software sales on a unit that has more hardware units in living rooms is pointless. I do agree that Rockstar as a bit of loyalty to Sony.
I not only will quote you on it but add my name to your quote :) This is the type of game that not only Japan will go gaga for but everyone with a child. As a new parent and an uncle, they are going to love this type of game when they are over. It keeps kids busy while growns up talk :)

Digital Downloads are still aways off, at least in NA. I think Blu Ray is the format of transition to digital downloads and with a 10 year cycle, I don't see DD being relevant for another 5-7 years. Now, within these 5-7 years the Blu Ray difference will sell a ton of consoles for Sony as it is now.
I 100% agree that software sells systems but one can't ignore the audio and videophiles that by the system as a 'cheap' Blu Ray player.

No, hardware sales went back to lackluster the week after Tales release. PSP overtaking DS monthly sales is cracking Japan. Not even the PS3 has cracked Japan, who right now is Nintendo land.
One thing I know for sure is that more space = room for better textures. When Blu Ray is utilized to its potential, you get games like Uncharted, Rachet, and MGS4. Its quite simple really.

It is not another Sony Tech demo. It is a game specific for the Japanese market. There is a market for these alternative games that attract Japan gamers.

My goodness Pachter, do you have a clue about hardware. Hardware will always go through redesigns to reduce cost and improve ergonomics. So the DS Lite entry signifies a problem with Nintendo R & D? I don't think so. The problem with PSP and to an extent with DS is piracy. With R4DS its easy to pirate DS games.
