This upcoming gen is really the end of videogame consoles. From a business standpoint is expensive nowadays to sell a piece of hardware at a loss.
Now Big Picture Mode will not replace consoles but it will open up the PC gaming market even more. With this is possible that some not all console gamers may switch to a gaming PC.
lone survivor, amnesia, limbo are the only real survivor horror games. I am willing to check these games out.
MGS4 stealth was an option. You could go guns ablazing. Hell the last act of MGS4 stealth was thrown out of the window replaced by gun ho tactics wtf? Maybe hitman I don´t know but stealth as a genre is dead and buried it will live now as an option no more or less.
I don´t mind that much that stealth is just an option; however, stealth as an option for MGS4 was a disaster. Is sad to see this genre become an option mainly due it made the games more realistic i.e. splinter cell you are a black ops agent do not leave any evidence that the U.S. was involved in the operation. That was cool because lets faced it avoiding enemies is more challenging than getting rid of them not only that but in real life black ops agents must not leave any evidence of the...
So are PC gamers and what is wrong for game developers not to support the PC gaming community. Yes console gamers are paying $60.00 for games mainly due it allow the corporations to charge that much and didn´t do anything about it. Number two the PC offers freedom for game developers no dealing with Microsoft fees for putting the game on a third disk, no fee for paying for updates and patches, no certification fee unless they go with STEAM. Not only that but the developers have a far mor...
Nice ideas, but who agrees with me of Sony releasing a gaming tablet. A tablet that costs $300.00 but is able to emulate your PS3 gaming collection best of all be able to play next gen playstation games at home and on the go. Better yet slowly phase out the PS3 and just focus on vita
Its true most games are aimed at teens and kids but not old timers like me. I still enjoy some not all non-adult games like LBP, cave story and such. But a true adult game with adult themes, language, gameplay mechanics and such is near impossible to find. Anime on the other hand is very easy to find adult oriented content. Now games like the walking dead, heavy rain, gemini rue and bioshock. Is less about blood, gore, and sex and more about the lifes' of the characters, their struggles...
Umm that is not what david cage meant. What he meant was which is true a lot of games still play it safe and dont want to go deeper. There is very few adult games; however, those are in the adventure genre i.e. the walking dead, gemini rue, heavy rain. To some extent bioshock.
Well like always something new, alien, or innovative scares the crap out of people. It reminds me a lot of the hostility between 3D gaming vs 2D gaming. How 2D gaming was kickass and 3D gaming was passe. Now is digital vs physical in two to three years for now is going to be all digital. Its the future not a gimmick or tool with South Korea already with 1gb of internet speeds and Verizon with Quantum speeds, the time of physical is at an end.
Like the article says Microsoft it has everything to win the cloud gaming war but they are not going to do anything for it. The author of this article forgot to mention xbox live games on demand which it could stream say games as opposed to downloading them.
Sony just recently bought gakai so this company can fall back on that. Nintendo well if they ditch the whole wii u console and decide to just sell the tablet controller it will most definitely succeed.
There are MMO JRPGS not great or something to get excited about but here are some MMO JRPGS all on PC some on console:
Rusty Hearts
Final Fantasy 11 and 14
Angel Love Online
Overall great blog
Okay my wording was horrible and basically you just stated what I was trying to say AAA game developers are trying their hardest to please everyone and is not working. Its hard due to the simple fact that some gamers like rpgs others do not and prefer fps. Is extremely hard to make a game cater to all audiences. This is where indie game developers succeed in the fact that only target certain audiences based on the game they are making as opposed to oh call of duty is so financially successful...
I see the biggest issue with free to play is the balance issue in the sense that those that spent money on the dlc content will have an advantage over those that don´t buy dlc content. The other issue is if the game ends up as a grind or farming in the sense you better off spending real money on say items as opposed grind and grind on hours on end to end up getting your ass kick along the way till you get say precious item or kick-ass weapon when someone else just bought it in say five ...
I agree with this blog the problem is that many triple a game developers and publishers are not trying anymore. Indie game developers on the other hand are giving gamers fun short innovative games.
Yes the biggest issue of the vita is the requirement of owning a Sony SD Card which is ridiculously priced and is not packaged with the vita you buy. To lower the prices of say vita games will not hurt either.
Well you forgot to factor in retail cut, distribution, shipping and handling, and marketing. Now why do smartphones/tablets cost so much more than say a vita these devices run on dual core, lcd screens not oled screens, etc.; yet, nobody has a problem paying for say prices of mobile devices/tablets. With that in mind the best thing that Sony could do is either allow third party memory cards or lower the price of their proprietary memory cards even with a lower price PS Vita most people won...
Yes I agree with you animation is a major key to enhancing the story of say game. Sadly its too expensive at the moment for game developers and publishers to utilize say animations in say games. Alan Wake is a great game but it lacks facial animations a shame really because the story is pretty good you get to feel for the characters through excellent voice acting but ugh the faces of say characters is so robotic that it throws you off say game experience. Have the creators took the time to ad...
Yeah, but the 60gb PS3 had the PS2 emotion engine allowing gamers to play PS2 games and PS1 games with less loading times and better textures, anti-aliasing right out of the box. It had a flash card reader, plus your own choice of Linux turning your PS3 into a basic useful OEM with keyboard and mouse plus printer. So yeah it was worth the money then Sony give in to the silly journalists and gamers crying it was too expensive; thus, all those features I mention were eradicated.
That's exactly what happened to me in the nineties, got viruses, malware for running emulators from atari to snes even genesis games. It was a nightmare back then to play PC games. Now is just point and click play.
